Why does Meguiars exagerate what a product can do?

I read an article in a tuner mag of mine, modified mag. It was for NXT tech wax. It stated, and put emphasis that it can hide swirls and make your color "burst." I tried NXT. It has a nice look, but hide swirls like this article suggested. NO WAY. I mean, show a picture of a swirled car like most non autopians would have, then NXT it and show the swirl reduction. I am betting close to nothing. Not ragging on megs, I use alot of your stuff and love it, but when I read these things all I think about is how somebody is going to expect so much, and then be let down. Just say what it does do.

Hi breakneckvtec,

Historically, Meguiar's has always under-promised and over-delivered. I guess each persons results will determine if NXT Tech Wax lives up to the statements in the Tuner magazine. At least if it doesn't, Meguiar's backs up all their products with a money back, satisfaction guarantee.

I didnt mean to come off like I am bashing megs. I have alot of megs polishes and love them. However when I read this I almost fell out of my chair. It does some of what they say, but people are going to read this expecting a miracle, and be let down. It might not be the best move for megs to keep hyping NXT this way. Let the product sell itself, it is great, and people will try and keep using it. I can tell you that alot of car people I know are using this through word of mouth. I even know of some tuner buds who switched to this as an easier alternative to zaino.

I agree.

A product should rise to the top, or fall to the bottom based upon it's performance.

NXT is a good product. Last weekend, we had a Detail Day at Meguair's for members of the Meguiar's Online Forum, and of course, every car had NXT applied to it and from what I could tell, everyone loved the performance of the product

This weekend is a Detail Day at Meguiar's for members of Autopia, the feedback that ends up here should be telling.

I didn't take you post as bashing by the way, just feedback...

Hey Breakneck, was the hype coming from the article, i.e. the author, or from a Meguiar's representative? Sometimes writers get a bit carried away (as do marketing guys)...

I suppose the marketing guys would be at fault :nixweiss

It started off asking if swirls drive you crazy and went on to say that NXT can eliminate them and bring out a burst of color like nothing else.

Thats just a bit over the top IMO. Let the product do the talking. I tried it, it was alright. I dont use it on my personal car, but I have on customers cars due to ease of use and it being a sealant and customers like it.
