why do some SMR's leave a haze

I have that problem with DACP, but not with 3M.....Ive made it the norm to follow DACP with VM, it cleans it right up. I guess i didnt really answer your question though did i ?

The haze may be inherant of the product, the surface temp could be too warm, or user error.......or worst of all, its too agressive of an SMR !
 
If used properly, with the correct pad/applicator I don't think any real "swirl remover" products should leave hazing.... They are usually quite fine.
 
Buff more? 50/50 Isopropyl alcohol wipe with a MF towel?



Application of a good cleaner 'wax' (Klasse AIO) will take care of it, in my experience.

I've had a hazing issue with 3M's SMR on my son's black Prelude. Usually end up using alcohol with a MF to clean it off. Wonder, though, since 3M's SMR calls itself a "glaze", is the alcohol removing fillers that the SMR is applying?

Mechanical = haze in the clear from abrasion

Chemical = residue left on the paint.

This is correct, I can give a good example. With PB's SSR3 by hand on my red car, it will leave a haze every time (ultra fine scratches from the abrasives). With a PC it leave almost no haze on the same car.
 
It's also possible that you could work the SMR too much and this will also cause marring. If you work it too long it dries up and you will be working dried residue into the paint and marr the paint. I have this problem with Megs Swirl Free Polish, #9, and 3M SMR.
 
its probably the chemical hazing cause i used the 3m PIII RC and

it works reall well. however on black it does leave a slight haze that DACP removed. I just didnt know why it did that its possible i didnt work the product too much..

That may be true too. Hmm, don't work it enough - get hazing. Work it too much - get hazing. So just when are you supposed to stop? Anyway, I noticed with 3M SMR that it leaves a bit of an oily film behind. Maybe this film is supposed to prevent the marring?
