Why do people do this!?

This may sound stupid, but try some EZ Off oven cleaner. I have used it to remove painted on lettering and pinstripe. What do you got to loose.

Nice suggestion. It works great on painted pinstipes, why not on this one. Definately worth a try. :xyxthumbs

"Yeah, that's the new "fad""

LOL, my 69 Mach 1 had a flat black hood from Ford, and some WWII fighters had blacked out noses to cut down on glare. Guess that fad's been around a while.

I like the look on the right car.

If you were quoting me, I wasn't saying flat black hoods are the fad. I was saying that black carbon fiber hoods are the fad, and that I see a lot of people trying to have the look without the real thing. My statement is intended for imports, specifically, not muscle cars or fighter planes.

Blame Sport Compact Car for painting a perfectly good WRX flat black. All the little kiddies then had to do the same.

Yep thats a ricer paint job for ya. I actually witnessed someone trying to paint silver "flames" on his mitsubishi with krylon. His prep was wiping the area with a rag, then he used blue tape and went at it. I can see dirt under the paint, its horrible.

After he was done, I think he realized what he had done so I gave him one of my fliers and said "call me when you need to take it off".

Although he did tape, there was overpsray EVERYWHERE, windows, paint, even the tires! I saw the car again yesterday and there are runs in the paint from the rain, it's only a matter of time now before he gives in and either calls me to take it off, or tries himself.
