I detail an older mans 95 3000GT about once a mounth. He does wash it when ever its dirty with some gold class that I gave him. But anyway no matter what I do to the car I can't get the swirls out of the car, I used a rotory twice and I took a chunk out of them but I dont want to use it anylonger because the car doesn't have a clear coat and Im scared of taking to much paint off. Today I used DACP,#9,#7 and then topped it off with S100. The paint looks wet but the swirls will not come out no matter what I use on it. Any ideas? thanks

in my experience it is close to imposible to get swirls out with a da, i would go w/ somethin more aggressive with your rotary. then again, i would warn him of the possibility of burning the paint. is he conserned or aware of the swirls? or is it just you?

usally thats the case, we are our worst critics.

Tell me about it!

I also find myself being a little too critical with my work too much, but the customer's response is....:shocked , so I try not to beat myself up too much. As long as the customer is happy, that's more than enough for me.....even though I still walk away a little pist that I didn't reach perfection.:)

You may have to get more aggressive, like Meguiars Power Compound or Diamond Cut.

What type of swirls? Spider swirls or rotary holograms?

If he is happy with the car and you did everything you could, leave it.

You could be leaving swirls behind from the rotary, it is possible, I've done it myself. Detail 1/4 of a panel with the rotary, then step down the the Porter Cable or hand with a weak polish then use some alochol and see if there are any swirls left. That should tell you if you just need to step down to a weaker polish for the 2nd polish.

No there not from the rotory...They look like someone waxed the car with rubbing compund in a 360...Its hard to tell. I will take pics next week
