Why are these things happening?

I just used my PC for the first time, and it was pretty straightforward, but a couple of frustrating things did happen and I'm not sure how to keep them from happening again.

1) a LOT of fine dots of semi-dry polish kept getting flung everywhere as I was running it. It seems like it was the polish that was on the outer 1/4" edge or so of the pads that had been there since I started. How do you guys prevent that? I can't imagine it's normal because it made clean up a b#*ch.

2) Normally the polish (SSR2.5 and SSR1) would work fine - start out colored and gradually fade and haze, getting dryer the more I worked it. However, as I used the machince more, some of my passes seemed to get "wetter" instead of dryer as I worked the polish in (if that makes sense). It never really hazed up, it just looked wet and colorless the whole time, no matter how long I worked it. It still seemed to polish, but something different was definitely happening.

Any suggestions on why these things may be happening or what I can do to prevent them?

Thanks

When the pad becomes caked like that, do you scrape the excess off? Is it a sign that you are using too much, or does that happen normally?

I'm still trying to find the balance of too much/not enough polish.

you can use a brush for cleaning them...this is the one i picked up:

if you don't have a brush to use, then you would need to wash it and dry it prior to using again. having more than one of the same pad is very helpful in these situations.

it will happen eventually no matter what...but definitely faster if you are using too much polish.

Sounds like your using to much product for both problems . Keep the pad flat to the surface and don't lift it while its running , shut it off let it come to a stop then lift it off your working area . Work SSR until your satisfied that you accomplished what you were trying to do ,then buffer the area with a MF towel and call it done. Don't forget to protect it with a sealant or wax. Good luck :buffing:

I put the polish on the pad and very lightly smear the polish on several spots before turning the machine on. Starting slow, lower speed helps, turn it up after you get past the sling stage.
