About 15 years ago, I was told to try this....

The finish on my car, a black 'Stang was pretty good at the time as I kept it clean and waxed it a couple of times a year. But that was then, and since that time, I've learned an awful lot about finish/paint care on this forum. Nonetheless, I was just wondering if anyone out there has done this.

1. Wash and dry.
2. In a gallon of clean water, pump about 10-15 shots of ArmorAll (Original).
3. Try to mix into solution.
4. Dampen a clean terry towel with the solution, wring out excess.
5. Wipe down a section of the car.
6. Buff out the section just dampened with the solution with a clean (duuuuuh!) diaper.
7. Continue until the entire car is done.

It actually worked pretty good at the time. My diapers were sliding off the hood like crazy!

If I had to guess why its because you are smearing oil over the panel then buffing it to spread it around making it look uniform...that's the reason for the slickness...as to what that is doing to the paint its cooking it in the sun IMO

Dealership and show car people way back in the day, use to use furniture polish to get the really shinny look on there cars, using the same method...only thing to remember is don't touch the car

If I only knew then what I know now!:D

Back in the early days, my dad had a black '61 Chevy Impala...He (with me as his little helper:yay) used to wash it with a mixture of water and kerosene. Try to get THAT into suspension...
