Hey all, My girlfriend scraped the garage door rail coming into the garage one evening and the rear fender looked pretty rough. Reading the forums and picking up a PC, I went to work to see if I could help it at all. I seriously didnt even try. Some compound and about 5 mins and my results were as followed.

I'm simply amazed and thought for sure the paint would not look like it does. With this result I almost want her to hit more stuff just so I can try and fix it. (not really)

Anyway, first (picture) post and wanted to share. Take care.

Whoa! That scratch/scuff looked BAD in that first picture. I don't notice any remnants in the afters though, nice job. As you said, it makes me want to go scrape things and see what's repairable:D I bet you're happy with the results, as well as a little relieved I'd guess?:bigups

could have been a lot of paint transfer. more paint transfer than paint damage to the car. either way, awesome jobs.

Is this degree of correction possible on a bumper that has paint transfer? Would too much heat be generated for the plastic bumper vs a metal body panel?

Cheers,

HeavyB

Like admac said, it's mostly paint transfer, luckily.

HeavyB - You could definitely do the same with a bumper so long as your PC speed is slow and your passes are fairly fast.

Imagine how many people have this problem and go to body shops. They probably get charged hundreds of dollars and all the shop does is wipe on, wipe off.

great job in all these pics!

i've found that nearly any/all paint transfer (no matter how bad it looks) will come off surprisingly well. as long as the original paint is still there underneith, you are all set.
