Who wants to meet Jewel? Twin Turbo Viper Detail

I used a soaking wet sock today to get sap off of my paint today and it left some swirl marks, how do I get rid of them? I tried waxing them already.

Follow Andre's advice. You can get answers to just about any newbie questions if you use the search feature at the top of the screen. Hope this helps. Laters

This is Jewel, a 2006 SRT10 Dodge Viper that has been fully built by under ground racing. She dyno'd at 1600whp but has been tuned down for the streets. I got to take a ride in this one and luckily had my video camera. This was the fastest car I had ever ridden in at the time, until the lambo...... but anyways. This car had some pretty bad acid rain spots etched into the hood, I had to do some wet sanding to remove most of it. But without further ado here she is!

This is how she looked when I arrived.

Here are the various tools that were used in the wash process

Two Bucket method with Grit Guards and 100% sheep skin wash mitt

I began by spraying some P21s wheel gel onto the wheels letting it dwell and eat at all of the break dust.

Then agitated the wheels.....

Then I covered the car in Foam using my Foam cannon and Dawn detergent to strip away any waxes or oils off the surface.

Then Rinsed and refoamed and washed and then rinsed again.

I used a ReThickulous microfiber towel to dry off the car.

Next I brought the car in to prep it for the paint correction. This includes taping up the plastic moldings and clay baring the surface.

I clay bared using Clay magic blue fine clay and show room shine for lube.

Next I decided to see what it looked like in the dark using my Brinkmans Duel Xenon light.

You might now be able to tell from here, but in this pic the paint has a slight fade around the lights.

I taped off an area and did a 50/50, now you can really tell.

This is an example of the pits from the Acid rain that were on the hood and front fenders.

I done a test spot on the fender with 1500 grit followed by 3000 grit.

I used a 4" PFW pad and Meguiars M105 on a rotary buffer w/ LC 4in backing plate

I compounded the entire car with a Flex 3401 with LC Hydrotech cyan pad with Meguiars M105 compound.

This was the end of day 1, all of the compounding was done except for the hood which needed to be wet sanded.

Day 2 begins the wet sanding.

I used 2000 grit sheets wrapped around a Meguiars sanding block

all areas were buffed with LC PFW pads and LC cyan pads.

Next
I polished everything with my flex 3401 using a LC tangerine Hydrotech pad and M205

After the paint was buffed and polished it was ready for the sealant. My number one choice is always Black Fire Wet Diamond.

while that was drying, I applied some PB's Wheel sealant to the wheels. *I LOVE this stuff*

I wiped off all the sealants and shined the tires and are the Final Shots! It was midnight when I finished so there are some night shots and then came back the next morning and got some more sun shots.

here is a Video that I threw together real quick.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Qm-Ld6vvpk

and the other videos are also on my youtube channel.

Thanks and have a Blessed day!

Great job! :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

1600 hp

That's more than double a Nascar. I wonder which last longer, a tank of gas or rear tires?

I was looking at the pictures again today on a larger screen so had a chance to look at it again.

In the shot where you are polishing the bottom section with the Flex and just pushing the head with your fingers, is that your technique or was it just a set shot (Flex not one). I do not see any pad compression. I could not guide it like you are using it (against the paint with pressure, guiding movement).

( I am very interested in how people polish sides with the Flex).

Great work Eric! Loved the video too! Very well thought out and put together! Mad props! :notworthy:

Thanks man! I am trying to make a more professional one. kind of like the Polished bliss videos. this one was just thrown together with the FlipShare program with my Flip camera.

Wicked job !! By the way, who owns all the cars? Garth Brooks?

lol, no, I haven't done any celebrity cars yet......I wander who my first celebrity will be? The owner is Kyle Bennett with TopGunCustomz

Awesome work Eric.

You sure do a lot of Vipers! Do they all have names:biggrin:

yeah all of his cars have names.....and he names them not me

beautiful and tastefully done car. Outstanding work!

Thanks marc, It was real good talking with you on the phone. I always end up learning something new every time.

Everything looks nice -- car, garage/shop?.

Is it true that all paints are the same in the shop?

Where are you located?

I dont quite under stand what you are asking about when you say all paints are the same in the shop? Each car has the factory paint job on them so each paint is different? is that what you were asking?

Thats just money!!!!

Awesome work and correction!

Thanks Dave!

Eric makes it look so easy in the video.. oh and the ride is pretty sweet too
:Car smiley:

Haha, I dont know if you can see it in the video, but I was doing everything with my eyes closed?:D

the tires for sure! that C-16 117 octane race fuel dont last long at all!

Well, some pictures are "Posing" because I have to hit the timer button and run and pose. but here is a short vid of how I actually use it right before your eyes!

Eric - awesome job. :Dancing Dot:

What type of car wash (and what concentration) do you use in your foam gun? Looks like it foams like crazy!!

it's Dawn Dish Detergent, When I do full corrections, I like to strip off any and all wax's or sealants. It give you a tru paint surface to correct. and for dilution ratio, I just fill it up half way with water and squirt in for about 4 seconds, then I shake it up. that's all

That's a nice vid Eric of the 50/50. Guess I have problems with M105 due to being outside in the TX heat so it flashes much sooner and I don't have halogen lights to compare my work.
