Who paid the new PDTA fee?

Does the association actually have a mission statement that clearly defines the purpose and goals of the organization?



Here are my thoughts in regard to why an association needs a mission statement.



1- A mission statement clearly defines why an association exists in the first place. A focused view of its fundatmental purpose.



2- A mission statement includes a concise description of the values and goals of the association. Giving the association a sense of meaning and direction.



3- A mission statement identifies in real terms who, what, where, when and how the association serves.



4- A mission statement is not about member benefits or what people want from an association.



5- A mission statement is about who an association is, what it does, and how it serves.

The Defense; It’s actually very hard work becoming and running NPO’s. At any time “anyone� can ask for a copy of the books and if they don’t comply fining can be induced. They have taken an enormous responsibility on creating this. I don’t think anyone is retired and they all have business to run besides.



The Offence; I don’t think it’s the amount of money that’s holding detailers back from joining. We don’t need to tell them why not, they need to prove why. They need to step back and ask themselfs, why don’t we have 500 to 1000 members that we should have?

Professionally, what really raises people fur is when the cheerleaders start preaching it’s only $75, when it’s not about the money.
 
For those of you that became members...how long did it take you to get your member info. to log in? I paid yesterday morning and have not heard one single thing from them yet. Thanks
 
I still have not gotten a confirmation from them or a reply to my e-mail. Anyone else able to get a hold of them?
 
I don't think it's an automated process... and they don't have a full time staff. But they have usually responded to my mails next day.

Jim and Brian are still running the main show with payments and emails. These are two full-time working guys that are NOT paid by the DAssociation. Associations work for others and it takes its members to be proactive as Ketch has stated over and over again. If you are looking to pay $75 and have the association make your life better, than this is not for you. Associations are only as good as the energy its members provide. The beginnings came about to help educate the public about the profession and to help get some insurance going for detailers.

We are trying to get more members, but when so many state, "I'll wait and see what I can get," instead of, "Let's see what I can do to help this profession ( which is helping you as a professional), it gets the board members a little frustrated. The board members are detailers, or industry leaders simply trying to get something going as the PDA tried a few years ago. If you look at associations for doctors, lawyers, educators, etc. they are run by members of their own peer group.



I hope that the PDTA continues to grow and provide leadership and education, which in turn will promote the profession as a REAL profession.



Incidently, there is a good article on water reclaim in this month's PC&D. For those mobile guys that are not containing the water, the time is approaching when you will face a heavy fine. In SB, CA. it is now a misdemeanor (sp) and the local police are enforcing the rules.



Hope you guys here in CA get a break from this rain soon!!!!

Well, I just joined and hopefully I will be able to contribute a lot ot the cause and help everything grow and get more organized. I posted my initial thoughts with a few things I would like to see changed already. I am sure I came on strong but not too many people are participating and I will do my best to change it if I can.
 
Guess who else is a member of the PDTA? The edge2000 pad company!



It's on the bottom of their web page. That's an excellent endorsement and a reason for me to join. With more manufacturers of detailing products joining the PDTA, the association can't help but to improve the way professional detailers a viewed by the public. It's more to detailing a car than just washing, waxing, and vaccuuming the interior. I will be joining the PDTA soon because I believe in what they are doing.

I hope you can too! It's a shame but i feel that it's lack of a decent website that is holding the PDTA back. After all, firstly, the PDTA was an online community.



btw, I check the forums on a fairly regular basis. I have had to cut back on forum time, which is why I hardly post here, but I think the PDTA is worth what little time I have to check and see what is going on.
 
Sorry to see this die but I am glad I got my money back before it did. Like I said in the begining good idea, poor execution. Detailer certifacation needs to come from an existing entity like ASE.

I actually got my money back way back when the association started. Reason was the insurance program they had set up for health insurance was not available in NJ so they refunded my money.
 
Hopefully one day we can get an association for us detailers. It's a shame it shut down, like detailbarn said, it was poor execution. I found it weird that I was so hesitant and always questioning a $75 member fee...
 
ShineShop ; how do you like Autoint's Finishing Wax and One Step Polish and Sealant and anyone else want to chime in with info.



add Fast Finish to it as well



I am thinking of using Autoint's One Step Polish and Sealant spring and fall then follwing with Finishing Wax and using Fast Finish evey two months. Is the One Step polish and Wax too agressive to use twice a year?



OR



if that is to agressive then use Finishing Wax every four months supplemented with Fast Finish.
