Who likes Black Chrome?

I'm going to be buying wheels in the near future. I really like the look of black. Check them out. By the way, they will be for a lifted 2004 F150 with 35 inch tires. The truck is black.

black chrome for black car? not a fan, my general rule is dark mags - light car; dark car - light mags. (and never ever CHROME!)

Love it!

Regular chrome is played IMO, but this is coming from a guy who is on his 4th set of rims.

I get tired of the norm quickly and I think body matched rims is  at the moment.

Chrome fan thru and thru.

GSRstilez, I argee about getting tired of the 'norm' quickly, but for some reason I have like virtually nothing except chrome rims for over 10 years now. (yours looks ABSOLUTELY GREAT, btw.)

On other peoples cars I like whatever they like, but for me...CHROME CHROME CHROME!

:)

it don't matter if it's black chrome, regular chrome, painted, polished, etc etc. as long as it looks good on your ride, that's all that matters! :xyxthumbs

I think them rims would be awesome on your truck. I know how GSR feels as I have had 5 different sets of rims on my Firebird: 16 inch alloys, 16 inch chrome, 17 inch polished, 18 inch black, and now 18 inch chrome. Out of all them I still love my 18 inch chrome. You either loved or hated my 18 inch black.

Those aren't black chrome, they appear to be black powdercoat, but I do like them.

For me black wheels on any color kinda takes away from the lines of the car and almost kills the cars look. Not really a big fan of them, but those are nice wheels.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I'm doing black rims w/chrome centercaps on both the Caprices, and I liked the black anodized HREs on my C5, but other vehicles call for different finishes and it's all about what looks right *to you*.

I can't really say if I'd like the rims pictured on the black truck or not, but I suspect that I would. But then the black w/chrome centercap is a look I'm sorta partial to :D especially on vehciles with the "heavy duty" look.

Wheels are the one thing that can make or break a vehicles looks. You can have the nicest looking vehicle, but if you use rims that don't fit the vehicles style than it totally ruins it and makes your vehicle look like crap!

With big mudders on a lifted black truck...you need something to grab your attention, I would go chrome all the way. Black is goign to get lost in all your black paint and the black rubber surrounding them.

Obviously everyone has their own style but that's my 2 cents.

Where can you go to get you wheels black chromed? How can you distinguish a wheel that has been powdercoated versus black chromed? Are there companies that use a better process or will one finish be as good as the next?

Well, this thread made me think about the cycles of (automotive) fashion. In the 70's cars had chrome all over them, and if you were going to get a set of "mags", they were gonna be chrome (to go with your whitewalls or RWL tires). Starting in the 80's, as European cars began to influence things, the American cars tried to emulate the "Euro" look (remember the Chevy Celebrity Eurosport?), and the chrome trim went blackout, the chrome wheels turned to clear or silver paint or bodycolor, and the whitewalls and RWL disappeared. The BBS BMW wheels were popular with their honeycomb style, and you saw a lot of similar, as well as other "dish" type wheels, not so many spoked wheels; this continued into the early 90's. Today chrome is back in a big way, both as trim and a wheel treatment. Spoked wheels are dominant, you almost never see different styles or body color wheels. I almost expect whitewalls to come back.
