Who is your target market?

Ok this question is for anyone that has a detail business.

If you have been doing business what has been the income level of your primary target market. I am currently researching this in my area. Is 100K+ good enough. I was figuring for 100K+ 150-200K and 200K+ as a target market. Obviously if a job was profitable I would take it. My question more along the lines of what market to attack first, what has the best closing rate of sales. I know there are people that make 40K that will buy, but I am thinking that rate would be smaller than that of the higher income households.

Thanks.

P.S. sorry for all the words prob. unnecesary. hehe

It all depends.. the guys who will pay the most are the guys who really value their rides. I would suggest sponsoring local car clubs, going to meets, car shows, etc.. Get a feeler for how people respond. I have a few clients who are sub 25K a year, live with their parents but drive brand new bimmer’s(e90/e92 M3’s). They are more than willing to fork out 35$ for a hand wash every other week, or 150 every few months for a quick clean up, or over 400 for a detail.

It all depends. I would start small. Price yourself low and figure out what you can handle. The first time I did a 3-step correction for money I realized that I HAD to charge more or I had to keep detailing as a hobby(just an example). Also, get yourself established in a car club somewhere or a community of enthusiast. All it takes is one happy car nut bragging about the detail you just did and you get a FLOOD of calls coming in about the others getting their cars done. Maybe offer the first guy a deep discount for coming to you and ask him to talk up your work. Just sayin’.
