Who do I check with about water runoff in parking lots?

I'm thinking about going 100% mobile, but I'm concerned about water runoff. If I have to reclaim the water, for the expense and extra trouble I may as well simply stay limited mobile and mostly fixed.



I've called a local municipality, but cant find any information on the issue and cant get a return call.

Those people don't work real hard around holidays.

Check first with the water dept, then see if there is a state agency you can communicate with.
 
How bad are the cars in NC? I have not used a pressure washer set up in over a year. Just use ONR or another like product. No water run off and no issues.

Might come down to using ONR and other rinseless washes in the future anyway if enough place also enact water restrictions.
 
It would be nice to see cities and states assist more in the process of business owners who want to be compliant.



If the cities would offer rebates as utility companies do to owners trying there would be much more in the evolution of protecting these ordinances. They could also be more friendly and being specific on what they want you to do exactly.



The cities can be quick to offer you an occupancy permit. However they are very slow in the process of approving all the other necessary permits. 2months after occupancy in my case. This was with me being 95% rinse less.



It makes more sense to me to assist small business owners in being compliant. There seems to be a more permit revenue and tax revenue focus when dealing in these areas. A business that closes due to exhausting permit processes and lack of information does not generate long-standing tax revenue. Just common sense to me.

I do not like ONR for an every-day detail. I feel the customer does not get a car returned as clean as with a water/pressure washer detail. I dont save the time, and wont use it.
 
Years ago, when obtaining my city license, I went in with pics and a pdf of my containment mat. The nice lady asked, "What is that thing?" She went on..."May I make a copy. This looks like something we should be doing."



True, many workers at the front desk just have no idea on how or what to ask for or what information is accurate. In SB, there is a program in place. I show the ONR method, and they give me a nice sticker, logo, etc. that shows I am registered. Of course, it is also a dog and pony show for those that decide not to follow. Another "registered" detailer was doing an engine detail last week on a street- one block from the creek where the run off goes and 2 miles from the beach...where the creek ends.

Other than the undercarriage, I feel it gets the car at least as clean. And based on the number of customers who ask me where they can buy ONR after seeing me use it, and how many have some in their garage the next time they have me out, it seems they are impressed how it works too. We don't have any real fallout issues here, or long term winter weather which means regularly salted roads, so maybe the conditions you see are different from here.

Agreed; there is very little maintenance you *can't* do with a rinseless/waterless wash, especially when we're talking about modern products and techniques. At worst, a pre-rinse with the pressure washer to knock built up mud/sludge/etc. off and an undercarriage flush are all that is needed. Only time I do a "traditional" wash process these days is if I'm doing major decontamination (usually in preparation for a correction job).
