I'll be doing a Subaru this weekend for the first time. do they have soft/hard clearcoats? anything I should be looking for in particular? thx.:woot2:

I have two Subaru's. From fixing some rust spots, etc i can say that the paint is quite thin on them and scratches very easily. A buddy of mine works at a Subaru dealership and he confirmed that the paint is thin. When it comes to polishing, i cant say anything, since i havent used the PC on them yet :)

The last 3 I did all had very soft paint, I used Optimum Compound to get the deep stuff out followed but Optimum Polish. The polish has an excellent cut on Subaru paint but it just didn't get that 90% part of the marring so I used the Compound to knock more of it out.

Most of the Subies I've done have easy-to-correct paint. Not so soft that they're a pain to finish out, but soft enough that they respond well to polishes. I've done one Java Black Pearl WRX that was the exception; for whatever reason, the clear on that one was harder (still workable, just tougher to correct).

YMMV, but that's been my experience on the dozen or so Subies I've done.
