White paint overspray

jdoria

Don't shop at Wal-Mart
Just got white gloss Krylon spray paint overspray all over my just Zaino'd black car. It needs to be clayed and polished AGAIN. I just spent 6 hours on Friday cleaning this car, now I have to do it all over again.

I took out the PC and a white Edge 2000 pad, I still dont see what everyone sees in this thing, a Makita rotary is the only way I can get paint to look the way I like.

Its time to clay the car again that should take off all the over spray....the polish after good luck

I polished the hood and got it back to new. The clay removed the paint but I could see scratches that needed a little SSR1. I just got MEnzerna FPII, maybe I'll try it, but SSR1 has been good to me.

It's going to rain Saturday, looks like Ill be locked in the garage all day cleaning this thing.

If the car is already looking good, then a rotary is a little bit of overkill. I might like to have one of those for serious swirl or paint damage, but for light swirls or for applying a sealant then a rotary is just too much for the average detailer. That is the appeal of the PC. Personally I haven't ever come across damage that I felt I needed a rotary for. That isn't saying that a rotary wouldn't have been faster, but a PC can still do the job. You just have to use it a certian way I guess.

I tried the PC with a white Edge 2000 pad and SSR 1, I was completely let down. I saw thousands of tiny micro swirls. I can not use a PC, I just can not do it. I can get the finish just how I like it with a rotary and it is serious overkill. I have tons of taping prior and clean up with a powerwasher after. I hate it, its a day wasted.

I havent been able to do anything with a PC but make work for my rotary to clean up. I'd like to invite someone from this board over here to watch me. They wouldnt believe their eyes!

There are certain angles and certain lights that make the finish look perfect with the PC, but I took it outside in the sun and saw all of the tiny, tiny marks. Out came the rotary. You can put that black hood under a microscope lit with a halogen light and you would be happy.

The dark picture the the result wirh the PC tonight. The spot I photographed is 1.75" tall. Can you see the micro scratches?

The other picture it the hood in direct sunlight after the rotary and SSR1 waiting for Zaino Z-5 to be applied.

You tell me what you think....

That those pictures are taken under two different lighting sources, which can, and most likely does, make a world of difference.

But you see my point? The PC is the darker pic, there are distinct scratches, although micro.

The lighter pic is the rotaty, I didnt leave any scratches - I am telling you, dont compare the pics.

The point being - I can not use a Porer Cable.

I see your point. I was just saying, trying to compare those pics was like comparing halogen lit pictures to sun lit pictures.

Why is it that you don't think you can use the PC. I know it's a good deal slower than the rotary and all. Do you think that might be the cause? Moving the PC too fast?

Jared Hass a good point. Technique is a major factor in the the two different machines. It does sound like you have the technique down with one of them.

I remember showing my truck to a respected member of DC a few months back. When showing off my skills with the outcome on the paint to this member I stated with absolute shame that there was marring that I had instilled in the paint surface, as we were inspecting the paint. Charles looked at me and said, "Where?" I said they were there you just cannot see them in this light.

I think that you have produced terrific results. Satisfaction is a hard thing to come by when trying to produce the perfect shine. Is "the perfect shine" possible?

I ma going to show it to someone on this board that lives near me and is a master with the PC.

I think that is the only way to cure my current illness.

I think "I" is the operative word there. You could learn to get the results you wanted with a PC. It is possible. I've done it and I've seen others do it.
