Friend brings truck over to me for detailing of hood and roof only.
Both are dull with heavy swirls and oxidation, dull shine still there.
Steps taken, Wash, Clay, wash, compound with Rotary M105 and wool pad, brings back some of the shine, but did nothing to the swirls which look like it's been through an old car wash 1000 times.
I then polish the hood and roof with my Groits and M205, use Final inspection[34], then Meq. Gold wax.
The roof was still dull and shot, as if no clear left.
Hood came out better.
He calls me today and states the hood and roof are turning white[been 3 days now] roof is the worst, hood is bad up by the windshield which was the dullest section when I started.
Could this be the wax drying out where maybe the clear coat is no longer thick enough, like an old oxidized paint job?
No photos yet, will see the truck tomorrow or the next day, will try Clay or Alcohol first, to see if it will remove it.
Anyone have this issue before? any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Richie.
