White car help

I've always found sealents really make white reflect nicely. I used Poorboy's world EX sealent w/ carnuba on a white vehicle a few days ago, and it really made it reflect.

Agreed. Wash it throroughly (Dawn is unnecessary) and clay the vehicle very well. Then polish it (I'd recommend getting a PC), use a paint cleaner like AIO, and then add a sealant. My favorites for white:

Cleaners:

AIO or GEPC (both available at Autogeek)

Sealants:

UPP or Wolfgang (also both available at Autogeek)

Waxes:

Nattys or Paste Glaz (Nattys is available at Autogeek, but Paste Glaz is discontinued. Check out MaxWax though...that's supposed to be very similar to Paste Glaz.)

Do I do a polish (such as Optimum) before going onto the AIO, or do those work as a polish as well? Is the "all in one" aspect of it a polish and a cleaner?

Sorry, just not too familiar with any of these products yet. I'm actually going out to pick up a PC today. (The autopia bug has bitten me :) )

Thanks for the help Paul, you've been great. :woohoo:

haha...look at how this thread started, now we have all converted you into all these products online and your getting a PC...haha...welcome to the world of autopia. To answer your question, opt. polish is a more agressive polish then AIO so you should first apply opt. polish via pc w/ whatever pad you feel is fit, then go on to your final polish which is AIO via pc or by hand, then on to OCW...Opt. is not a must before AIO. You can apply AIO alone which is a light polish/paint cleaner/sealant/whatever...but opt. will really give you a nice base to work off of!

Thanks. I tend to go all out into my new interests, so I'm sure I'll have a shelf full of products, pads, towels and a PC sitting by it soon. :) I'll get some pics up of my car soon.

Yeah the Optimum Polish is what you'd use for removing any swirls that you have. AIO is more of a paint cleaner than anything else. It claims to be a polish/cleaner/sealant, but its true polishing abilities are nothing much, and its protection is nothing great either.

So your process would be:

Optimum Polish > AIO > sealant/wax

Wolfgang Deep Gloss paint sealant looks good on white/light colored????

I dont think so, the bottle says best on dark colors, I put it on my car once....never again...

I like it on every color.

And I'm surprised at how many people follow the label as far as what colors to use a certain product on. Souveran looks good on light colors, Paste Glaz looks good on dark colors.

Nattys and Nattys Blue both look great on any color.

Here's the Protege with RMG/WG, the day the Maxima sold:

And more recently, with AIO/WG/Nattys (Wytstang I know you've seen this one before):

I still have that pic ;) it made me buy Nattys (blue) during PB big sale a while ago. I'm going to definetly(sp?) keep WG in mind with my next order, your work is very inspiring well done.

i would use something like Max Wax for a wax (cheaper but very good), or JW acrylic jett for a sealant. WhiteMax, I dont only use products on cars that the label says, I have tried it on white and was very disappointed, also with the whole curing time it suggests and not leaving it outside at night while its curing it isnt a good beginner sealant in my mind, its just a lot of work and worry for a finish that isnt anything great, and durability is just not worth the cost. FYI Souveran is money on white! I actually like it better on white then darker colors...

I thought it looked nice on my pearl white Maxima, but everyone's opinion is different. That's what allows this forum to have the great discussion that it has.
