Hey everyone, I'm planning on giving my brand new (week-old) toy it's first wax-job this weekend. I usually prefer Z5 on my black civic, but I'm debating which to use on this. What do you guys think would be better, Z2 or Z5?

I'd have to give a big thumbs up for the new Z2 Pro, just got a chance to use it yesterday and WOW

Heh I still have the old Z2 & Z5. I have alot of it actually. The stuff is so durable that I hardly have to use it. I guess if I could plop down the kind of cash to buy this as a toy then I might as well buy the new Zaino. I guess I'll pass the old Zaino off to my parents, or sell it to some friends.

Definately Z2Pro , but if you are ordering, get some of the new Z8 and some ZFX! You wont be sorry for sure !

Ok this seems like as good a place as any to touch on this topic since the original poster asked about z2 and z5....why use Z5 if there are no swirls? Why not just got straigt to Z2. It is my understanding that Z5 is suppose to be an "attempt" at filling the imperfections in a finish and basically a prep stage for Z2. Why not just remove the imperfections and then go straight to Z2? What is the advantage of using Z5 prior to Z2 if the finish is in the proper condition?

BTW I am a Z user on one of my cars. At one time I had Z5 but found it completely useless and just quit messing with it and instead use Z2 (Z2pro now) directly (w/zfx).

Very simple. No vehicle is swirl-free. New, old, garage queen, show cars.

Yes, most will not see any change in appearance (less swirls) because their finishes are beyond the ability of the present Z5 but also many glazes with the temporal ability to fill and hide.

Simply put, if you drive your vehicle, wash your vehicle and periodically QD your vehicle, Z5 has a place in a Zaino detailing system for correction of minor marring caused by such activities.

But first, you must eliminate all major swirling before expecting Z5 or glazes to finish the trip towards perfection.

also, some prefer the look of Z5 on darker, non-metallic colors. Although it's subjective, many people think Z5 looks better on dark colors than Z2, a somewhat 'wetter' look because it's less optically pure.

however, Z2 PRO(I haven't yet tried it) is supposed to look very good on all colors now, so this preference may no longer be justified.

I can understand how Z5 could be a usefull "repair" step after application of the Z system. However, I would never go thru the trouble for such micro marring on my vehicles, as they are daily driven.

However, I still say that it is useless for an initial full detail (unless of course you like the "look" better) because the surface should have been prepped properly with a pure polish to get the finish free of defects before the application of the Z.

Thanks for the info. It confirms that I don't need Z5 for the way I detail my cars.

most definitely Z2 Pro, and man you have got to use that Z8

It is righteous!

So last night I decided to wash & clay to get ready for polish / Z2Pro this weekend. My last application of Z2 was probably 6 months ago & my car has seen nothing but a couple QEW's & sprays @ wash bays to clean the salt off. No beading, dull, etc.

After I clayed, there was a little bit of light left, so I thought I'd give the Z8 a shot just to see. Uh. Wow! It was too dark to see anything last night, but it looked amazing this morning. Granted there are some swirls and all, but the overall look surprised me. IMHO, the Z8 alone looked better than the old Z2 / Z5. I've already had 2 people comment on it this morning.

Can't wait to go through the whole regimen this weekend (SSR2, SSR1, Z2Pro, etc.) and see how it looks after the Z8.

I'm excited, I ordered my Zaino stuff yesterday!:D I'm real low on all my other Zaino stuff, and figured I'd give the new Z2, Z5, and Z8 a shot.

Z-2 PRO

Z-5 (for the black Civic)

Z-8

Z-7

Z-14

I have no Zaino stuff currently, but plan on ordering. I was going to order everything seperately since I didn't think the Z5 would be real useful and the package doesn't save you much. I plan on doing PB SSR's before application of Zaino anyways. So, should I save the money and just order everything seperately, or should I get the Z5.

I have a white car.

The reason I asked about which Z I should use is because I have heard many times that Z5 is better for dark colors and metalic paint. I tried Z2 on my black civic before and was not terribly impressed with the results, yeah it was shiney though. I really like Z5 on the black car though.

If you have no micro-marring, then I see no reason to buy Z5. With a white car, Z2 would likely be better. Smart move ordering Zaino stuff! I have tried many of their products and have been impressed with every single one. :)
