Which wool pads????

I have been using wool pads for compounding for about ten years. But I usually find a pad I like and stick to it. Over the last five years there have been a ton of new wool pads that have come out on the market. In the beginning I used pads that I might as well have stuck a sheeps butt on the end of my rotary. Lately I have been using the PFW pads. They work great on softer clears (of which I usually am working on). But on harder clears they don't seem to work as well. Also, they only seem to work for a short while and I usually throw them out.

So my question is what wool pads do you use for harder clears?

Meg's solo wool yellow and purple?

Meg's Cut n Shine

Durowool?

lambswool?

It is time to order pads for this coming spring and just wanted to know if many were using pads other than the PFW?

I use and like the Edge wool pads.

They seem to work well, are durable, and offer a lot of flexibility. They are available in different blends which affect the cut (from rather aggressive to finishing) and also available in different sizes.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks smprince, I have never used an Edge pad. I guess because I don't have the adapter. Since I have my favorites with other foam pads, the hook and loop just makes it easier on me.

I work on a lot of older clasic cars, especially during the car show season. The wool pads use much less heat which is nice on single stage paint. But just thought about trying somthing new. But it looks like I might be sticking with the PFW.

Personally I do use the double sided version which require the adapter, but I believe Edge also makes the wool pads in single sided version which would work with a standard hook and loop backing plate.

Single Sided

Saw this over on MOL last night. Pretty neat if youre looking at Megs pads. :)

Ive got two of the W4000's but Ive yet to use them. They will be used on fiberglass anyway, not paint..
