Which SSR's For Cleaning Glass?

Quick question: Which of the PB's SSR's is best suited to the heavy duty cleaning of exterior glass? Planning to use a 4" pad (orange or white) and PC.

Thanks,

I would use SSR2 and the polishing pad(white?) , preferably I'd use Professional Polish unless there was something really nasty on the glass.

Thanks Steve, I'll try both on glass this weekend. :)

If you use the PP, then after applying, let it completely dry before buffing for best results, and if you have any EX-P , put that on afterwards (thanks to GRStilz Sean, for that tip :) )

yes it helps to repell water, especially when your windshield wipers aren't working:rolleyes: also pretty cool when you wash..it just sheets right off

Just gave something else to do while applying a coat of Natty's over the weekend. :)

Do you really recommend it for the front windsheild though too? Does that produce any negative effects when using the wipers in the rain like streaking or anything? Or do the wipers actually work better in the rain using EXP?

Only one way to find out Steve! LOL It has been raining a lot here lately. ;)

I haven't applied EX-P over glass, but I always apply Zaino Z2 over everything, paint , trim, chrome and glass and it seems to work fine, no smearing, streaking, even on teh windscreen. Works better than RainX (IMHO), I guess from what others have said the polymers in EX-P work just as well over glass?

Hey try it ..just keep a MF around in case your glass/wipers don't play well with your sealant :)

This reminds me...

Steve, any plans to come out with a dedicated glass polish to add to the PB line?

I just recently tried to remove an aquapel treatment from glass with SSR2 and PP and neither could handle it. Hazing occurred. I hit it with Z-12 and that worked like a charm.

It'd be great if something simlar was added to the PB line since it's pretty much becoming my one stop for just about everything else. :bigups

did you letthe PP dry to a haze? I've also used SSR2 and 2.5 on glass for stubborn problems:dunno

Yup. I left it for about 45 min. after which it was a dry haze. When you initially wipe of the PP, it looks pretty good. However, when I come back to it a little later, I see cloudiness and streaking.

I guess I should mention that Aquapel is about the only thing on glass that I've seen this behavior with. SSR2 on other problems on glass has worked just fine. I'm also unsure why Z-12 would remove the aquapel while other products will not. I assume it's a combination of the different cleaners in Z-12 as well as the abrasives.

Wipers, what wipers.
I haven't used my wipers in six years. With all ext glass cleaned with clay, ssr 2.5, autosmart glass glow polish and PB EX-P, there is no need.
My glass is slicker than the paint and nothing sticks to it and zero pitts, chips etc

Great products steve. Love the smell too. So creamy.

Steve/Poorboy, is there going to be any "cloudy" look to using EX-P on a windshield?

If so, I'd just as soon just use the SSR to clean away water spots. My windshield/car is new (5 months), so is using EX-P something you'd say is a non-factor even on a (relatively clean) new windshield?

I've seen no cloudiness at all and i had earlier mentioned that it was Sean who showed me this at the detailing day, but i was wrong, it was Dalton who had it on his for a few months and the water just sheeted off during the washing of his car. I have had windshied wiper problems for a while, just finally fixed them:) and not only did the water just fly off while driving, when i did get the windshield wipers working again, they just glided:bigups

Sounds good...I'll try it.

Just to get it straight....clean the windshield first, then use some PB PP, then apply EX-P, right? Or can I skip the PB PP step?

I actually don't like ANYTHING on my windshield. You cannot see through those magnifying water beads when it beads up and when the wipers move over it it looks like you're looking through waxed paper. Of course if it never rains where you live then it's a moot point. :) I use Bon Ami to clean my windshield so there is absolutely NO beading. Even with the windshield covered entirely with a sheet of water it is much easier to see through than moving water beads. (My 2-cents)

i use bon ami before i seal, works great for me and i have only used nxt on my windows so far and the beads roll off so fast its like they arent there ?
in fact i even use nxt on my sliding glass door on my apt, the windows get hit by the sprinkler a few times a week and the nxt makes for easy clean up, i wash windows with gold class and a cwb and they shine like crazy, no streaks or smears just my $.02
