Which QD would you recommend for the this task?

Hello chaps,

I Have the choice of purchasing the the following QD's:

Megs Final Inspection

Megs Final Detail

Megs QuikDetailer

The ClearKote one... can't remember it's name!!

The QD I purchase has to be suitable for:

1) A very final top coat for extra depth and shine.

2) Be suitable for use in between layers of, for example, #9, SEC, IHG and the S100 to remove any smears etc I may get.

i need to order in the next couple of days, so any quick responses and opinions would be gratefully received.

Many, many thanks in advance,

Face

Fcuk me, that was quick.

That's what I love about the internat... forget all the porn, bring on the detailing...

Okay, okay, okay, perhaps bring on the porn!!!

I wouldnt touch the car inbetween layers with a QD.

If your doing the steps correctly, any residue should just wipe off with a clean MF.

Start slapping QDs onto the clean paint and then putting other products over the top might not come out too well, causing smears etc.

I just use QDs for what theyre meant for :

Wiping down previously treated surfaces and cleaning dirty areas not really worth giving the full treatment.

Somker -

It's just that sometimes i noticed a few smears - esp. on a black car, in between layers of detailing, and I've notice that QD seems to get rid of the smears really well.

I'm a relative newbie, as you can tell from my post count, so be gentle with me...

Smoker, this is why FI is bullet proof, you can safely use it. It's body shop safe aswell.

You can use QD in between layers, just try to use one that doesn't contain carnauba. For example, you should lubricate your PC pads with a QD when polishing. I use EF clear pearl, which does contain carnauba, and even that has given me no problems. I'd try clearkote's. Out of all their products, this is the only one that I'm convinced of buying, going only on what has been said.

Faceman- I see your two criteria as being somewhat mutually exclusive. The FI doesn't seem to do much as far as topping/replenishing my finishes, but it's great for removing residues. Of your choices, I'd get both the FI (for removing residues between layers, yes this is an OK thing to do) and ClearKote's Quick Shine for "spray-waxing" and topping your finish.
