Which polisher?

I have been looking for a machine polisher and with a tax refund on the way now is the time to buy one. I am a bit torn between the Flex XC 3401 and the porter cable 7424XP. I am looking for opinions as to which is the better machine and why.

The Flex is the more powerful machine and I really like mine, but you can almost get a rotary and an RO machine for the cost of the Flex. What are you wanting to do with it?

Get both if you can afford it. The Flex is a great machine, but you will be limited to 6.5" pads. The pc will allow you to use smaller pads for tight areas, head light correction, water spot removal on glass, wax/sealant application and carpet cleaning.

I want to be able to remove some holograms and swirl marks from my car along with being able to apply waxes, sealants etc. I don't want a rotary only because I worry about destroying my paint.

Get the Meg's G110v2 or Griot DA.

Buschur_evo,

I am in the same boat you are in. I am thinking about the griots because it has the most power (non flex) at 7amps (pcxp has 4.5amps) and it has a lifetime warranty.

I have both the Griot DA and Mini and love it.

The kit is up to you. I am debating between using menzerna (SIP and NANO) and the M105/205 combo. I have heard that the M105 is known to dust and be difficult to work with, so I am leaning towards the menzerna but I have no experience with either of them as of yet.

I'm not going to buy until the snow melts here in chicago (no use in paying now only to have it sit for another month).

Whatever I get, I will probably buy 4 LC Hydro pads (5.5" variety 2 tangerine 2 cyan) and buy 2 wax application pads. I would only be doing 1 car per day and only my personal cars and families so I hope 2 pads should be enough for the average car.

just the .02 of a complete newb that reads an awful lot on this website.
