Thanks so much

AL-53,

Welcome to DC!

The 7424 and 7336 are the same machine.......... used the same. I believe the difference is in how they come configured. The 7424 comes with the polishing pad, and the 7336 comes with the sanding pad. I like to outfit them with a good 5" hook & loop backing plate, with 6 1/2 pads. Other's outfit them a little differently.

Hope this helps.

The 7424, 7336, 7242SP, and 7336SP are all the same basic machine. What differs is the included accessories. I believe the 7424's come with 5" counterweights, while the 7336's have 6" counterweights. Some come with a polishing pad, a sanding pad, or both. Vendors may also offer bonus kits which include both counterweights and a velcro backing plate.

I personally prefer to use a 6" counterweight and 6" velcro backing plate with 7.5" pads. However, many other DC members prefer to use 5" counterweights and 5" backing plates with 6.5" pads. There's no right or wrong answer here.

i got my P/C fro my dad's friend, however i learned that it was missing the handle. is the handle necessary to opeate the P/C?

thanks everyone for getting back to me on this...I am going to get one after reading all the info you sent me..then go get a decent hood or trunk lid at a friends junk yard ..practice on that ..them attempt to do my girl friends car..if that comes out good then will do my 04 truck..
Thanks
Al
