which PC pads?

Alright so i have the 7336 pc, but i don't have anything else. I plan on using SSR 2.5, SSR 1, and then probably EX-P. Which pads should i get? I only want what I need for this process, so I don't need a expensive set of 5 different pads. thanks for any help

I just used a LC orange pad for the first time with Megs #80 this past weekend. I was pretty impressed with the results. The pad is very firm (unlike the LC yellow) and does take some getting used to. I think you will have less issues (hazing) with the orange as compared to the yellow.

in that link a guy asks if he could use it with a 6'' an they say you shouldnt.. i have the 7336 so i think thats the one with the 6''. pads wrong size:confused:

can someone explain this backing plate/pad problem to me?
 
It's not so much the pad size you should be concerned about. You just want to be sure you are using the correct size counterweight with the correct size backing plate. For example, a 5" backing plate goes with a 5 lb. counterweight.

I've found that you can only use a 5" backing plate, the pads won't accept a 6". Even with my meguiar 5", the plate doesn't quite fully seat properly on the pad (still works though). I'd suggest getting the excel 5"....







i really dont know crap about my machine. i dont wanna spend 25$ and find out the pads dont fit. i have the 7336 SP
 
Buy the Propel backing plate. It's a 5", and fits perfectly in the slightly recessed area on the back of the Propel pads. A 6" backing plate will work, but it won't fit in the recessed area, so it won't fit nearly as neatly as the propel plate.
 
You will be better off buying one of those kits that includes the backing plate. Most kits are ~$50 and include a backing plate, blue pad, green pad and orange pad. Look around Autopia or an equivalent site.

Agreed. I purchased this kit with and extra Green and Orange Pad from Excel for less than $65.



There's no way you'll get confused with all these pad/plate sizes purchasing them like this.
 
I don't think there are any coupon codes for Excel. You shouldn't need to worry about this, though. Patrick's prices are excellent and you'll save more with his true shipping prices.

alright i took my PC out of the box today, played a little with the white pad it came with :omg!:

and it sounds like it would just be alot easier if i just got 6'' pads? instead of messing with this backing plate stuff. who makes 6'' pads?

I was about to order the pad kit linked above for my PC7336sp. I need the 5 inch backing plate which is included, but does the kit also include the 5 inch counter-weight, or must I order it seperately? I'm guessing the latter, but this line confused me: "5 inch flexible hook and loop Backing Plate" since I don't know what a PC hook is. Thanks!
 
I would think most or all PC kits would include the counterweight. Get the 6" counterweight though, since you are supposed to use the 6" weight for any pads larger than 5". Most PC pads are 6.5" or larger.



The "hook and loop" just refers to the "Velcro" backing on the plate. Hook and loop is to Velcro like tissue is to Kleenex.

I currently have the 6 inch backing plate and counter-weight that came with the PC, but read that the 5 inch setup was better for the Propel pads that I am ordering.
