Which part of detailing do you least enjoy ?

I hate windows and Interiors .The main thing on the inside is any type of carpet or seat cleaning. I just suck at it becuase I don't have the right tools or experience.

I dont really mind wheels untill you get into those friggin ones with alot of holes or spokes on it. Like the ones on my moms crown vic police interceptor , they are off the mercury town car . You have to get down there with a tooth brush to get out all of the brake dust.

Anything that makes me bend over - my back hurts :(

If you don't like cleaning rear windows, get a hatchback - it's a breeze now that I have my VW GTI. :D

The door jambs on my vehicles, they usually get neglected and become a bigger chore than they should.

The nasty interiors some of you pros have to work on, no way, these people are disgusting slobs.

Hmm - a good question Axe - I think I agree with the majority that have responded so far. - i.e.

the wheels - I have the 17" 7-spokes as found on a lot of 3-series BMW's (axe - are yours the 18"MV's - they must be even worse) I find wheels ok to wash, but difficult to wax becuase of their intricacy. also it is difficult to get them completely dry and this causes even more problems if you wanto to wax them.

Drying in general is difficult if you are intending waxing a nice dry car - again it is the little cracks and gaps that hold water just ready to run a drip down the wax as it is hazing over!!

Also - the engine bay - I think I also am scared to use a lot of water in there. Probably without any reason - Axe have you used a lot of water in the engine bay? I'm sure it would be fine, but worry about it all the same. This limits the work I can do in there.

I am ashamed :o to say I have not detailed my engine, but not because I am lazy, but because I know next to nothing about them. Like you I am afraid to get things wet that shouldn't be wet, so I tend to avoid this job.

Yes, I have the 18"MV's and they are a PITA

Hah hah, a somewhat extreme solution OJ :)

Seems that wheels and wheel wells are the most popular thing we love to hate so far then ? I agree about interior rear and windscreens, what a PITA they are too!

The wash process as it's where the most damage (marring, swirling) can happen IMO if you aren't careful. By this I mean the full process from initial rinse to final wipe down with your drying towel.

Glass - need more practice

Other than that nothing much really.

Inside of windscreen, forgot about that, you almost have to be a gymnast or into yoga on my car, as it sweeps back quite far.

The same as the rear screen, twist those hands and arms to reach ;)

1. Cleaning the lower trim parts. Applying treatment to trim.....

2. Cleaning under the seats, and the seams in leather seats.

3. Polishing and removing polish from grill. A chore due to the size and shape of grill layout.

4. Applying anything in the engine compartment.

I do these things, but they are not my favorite things to do.

Heh heh, oddly enough I sorta *like* doing wheels, wheelwells, and doorjambs! Something about seeing them go from obviously dirty to sparkling clean just pleases me.

What bugs me are the plastic grills. Our Audis and the MPV have *dozens* of little slots. To get them truly clean you have to poke something in each one and get all four surfaces and the four "seams". A quickie with a BHB just doesn't get them truly clean, gotta poke every single one with at least two strokes, usually four. With two grills per vehicle, I find this a royal pain and no matter how fast I work it takes a lot of time. Not so bad on the Jag, where the top grill is chromed, but I still have to get down on a creeper with a trouble light to do the lower one. And of course, using product on them (usually the K twins) takes forever too

I generally hate to do vacuuming of the seats, but maybe because I save it for last when I'm most tired.

Second on the list would be wheel wells.

for me, it would have to be, reading the hype of a new product, buying it , applying it and then being disappointed as the results were not all that.. so basically it sits in my collection collecting dust..

My favoriate part is using clar bar. Easy and it makes the surface so smooth to touch.

My unpatience part of details are shampooing carpet and wheels. I think something to do with getting down on my knees too long (tired), scrubbing carpet and wheels kind of turn me off.

It used to be windows but I got over it . Now its grimmie dirty wheels that have caked on brake dust.
