Which pads to use?

I'm new to this site and all I can say is WOW:eek: I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about detailing. But judging from this site I know squat! Anyway, I have a 2003 Quadcab Dodge with White/Silver two tone paint. I have put on four coats of Z2. I have some minor swirl marks and I want to get rid of them. From reading I am considering picking up a PC do I need one or would Z5 probably do the trick? If I do get the PC what pads would be best for this type application? Sorry for all the questions I'm just happy to find such an informative site.

Thanks

Bryan

Thanks for the reply I went with the ultimate PC from CMA and have the power pad kit with the ultimate kit. For polishes I have #9 meguiars, intense polish from menzerna, and P21 paintwork cleaning lotion, any suggestions for pads to use with which product and order would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my plan

dawn wash

clay

wash

intense with yellow or orange pad?

#9 with white?

Ps21 with white?

z5

z6

z2

top with PS21/S100

Please give me some suggestions as I want to do it right the first time.

I'm not familiar with the Menzerna polishes but a lot has been written lately about them so a search will turn up info for you.

#9 is a tad more aggressive than the P21S but both are mild and would work well with your new truck. I would start with the P21S and white pad and see how it works on the swirls. If you need more bite go to the #9. Search for info on proper buffing techniques - there is a learning curve to PC use so read as much as you can before cranking up the machine. It'll take some time for you to get used to it but its pretty easy to figure out.

Your other steps are fine. Have fun with the new toys!! :)

Yes, try the white (polishing) pad first with each. From there I think some people suggest #9 with a more aggressive pad, but there are mixed opinions about this....

Anyway, good luck. :)
