Which pads for KAIO, SG, and Souverain paste application

should I get the black pad for KAIO, the red for SG, and the Gold for Souverain paste?

CCS 6.5 inch foam pads, Lake country ccs foam pads, porter cable pads, ccs polishing pads, ccs pads, lake country ccs pads

Also I'm getting a bottle of poor boys black hole glaze for my girlfriends new TSX, what pad should I apply that with? a black pad?

I detailed her car starting with flat lake country pads on my flex 3401.

I hit it with an orange and M105, followed with white and M205, then ran out of time and just put a hand layer of KAIO on it. Looked amazing compared to what I started with, but I'm thinking I'd like to go back over it with M205 again since I had some marring from the M105 (i think).

That sounds good, though I myself prefer a more "open" and slightly firmer pad for KAIO. The idea is to find one that you like which does *not* impart any cut of its own, and there are lots of zero-cut pads to choose from. Of course, a pad that's zero-cut on your Jeep might not be on her TSX since clearcoat hardness does factor in.

Never used Black Hole, but that pad oughta work fine.

The Flex is just a little aggressive when it comes to doing very gentle work, so you might keep that in mind both when choosing pads and deciding whether to do some stuff by hand or by Flex 3401 (e.g., waxing; I'd do the Souveran by hand instead of via Flex).

I'd figure out what the marring really is (residual original marring? micromarring from the M105? pseudo-holograms from the oils in the M205?) and I'd IPA/etc. before doing the KAIO. No, KAIO will *not* strip M205 oils reliably, but the interaction between the oils and the KAIO can make for some issues.

Oh, and just FWIW, I wouldn't top the KSG with Souveran, at least not until you get at least four coats of KSG on there.

thanks for the advice! I need to do another marathon session and pay more attention to the lighting while working on the surface and do the IPA wipedowns. the marring looked more like "pseudo-holograms from m205" I think. Her clearcoat is softer than the stuff on my Jeep. My jeep has a custom paint job and the clear is really thick, on top of a white pearl w/ blue in it. There are a few small chips on her hood that I need to fix, I can't believe how thin Acura paint is.

Heres my Jeep, not a close-up but you can see the pearl in it very well.

ptownTSI- Glad to hear you have lots of clear on the Jeep :xyxthumbs

I really don't think I'd top the KSG, I'd just layer it on there and add more from time to time. But hey, that's just me.
