Which Orbital Polisher??

I have been perfoming the three step process on all my cars for a long time now. The way I usually do this is apply the product by hand with foam applicators and remove by hand with terry towel cloths.

I want to buy a polisher. What model is good? Where can I buy it? What pads should I buy? Can I use the polisher for all three stages?

I assume that I apply the product using the polisher and remove by hand. Is this correct?

Sometimes, in between performing the three stage process, I use a one step cleaner wax. Can I use the polisher for this too?

Thanks in Advance

Do a search on Porter Cable. You can use it to apply and remove (use mf bonnets to remove product). PCs work fine with one step products.

Here is a link for the PC and a very nice set of pads:

You can save a few $$$ by buying a PC at Lowes or Coastal Tools, but the above will give you everything you need in one package: PC, pads, and correct backing plate, plus you'll be supporting Autopia ;)

Edit: If you enter SONUS for the discount code when you order you'll get a 15% discount.

The Porter Cable 7424 mentioned in the above replies is a must have if your serious about car care. It will save you tons of time and will remove defects that simply cannot be removed by hand.

So, when I go to Lowes or HD, I only find the 7335 (?), not the 7424. Which do I want? Do I need to buy the 7424 on line? The wife is going to get this for me for Xmas, so its a lot easier for her if I just tell her to go to one of the local stores...

I tried the link you mention but was unable to apply the 15% discount by entering SONUS. I got a message that said this discount did not apply to this product. Any suggestions as to how to receive the discount?

I was almost sure I read where that code (SONUS) was used for that kit. The best thing may be to e-mail DavidB directly and ask him the best code to use for that, while mentioning that SONUS didn't work.

Good luck and report back what the correct code should be.

The SONUS code definitely works if you buy the SONUS pad set. I think I wound up getting my PC from Coastal Tools, and then later I bought the pad set from Autopia. I was very happy with the service from both vendors.

Eliot.....I did as you suggested and emailed David. It was apparently an error in that particular portion of the site that the code Sonus did not activate the 15% discount. David has corrected it and it now works just fine. Many thanks to both you and David for your help.
