Which one??

So I recently sold my '68 Camaro convertible that I had for about 15 years. Made a nice profit on it but it was still tough to let it go.

Basically, the reason I sold it was to buy a new Camaro convertible SS/RS next Spring. But the more I have been thinking about it the more I'm not so sure I can live with shelling out almost $50K for the car. Even with the money I have from the sale of the '68, it's a big chunk of change.

While I still haven't ruled out purchasing the NEW Camaro next year, I have been throwing around some other ideas in my head. I have two other cars in mind now, each of which would be half of what the new Camaro would cost. The car would basically be my Spring/Summer car. I'd take it work a few days a week, to the beach on the weekends occasionally and it would be put away in the Winter. A must here in CT.

So to make a long story short, here's the two cars I have had in mind. Both 2002's and both roughly the same price give or take. Just wondering which one you guys would go with. These are just pics i got off the web. I won't be buying until next Spring.

No this is not a plug for Oakbrook Toyota....:grinno: Just happens to be a good picture!

With the Trans Am, I probably wouldn't be able to get a convertible because they made so few red convertibles with a 6 speed. It does have a removable hard top though...

What do you guys think? Finally a chance to spend someone else's money!!!

All opinions welcome....

I'd definitely go with the firechicken but finding any of them in anywhere close to autopian shape is next to impossible. They are at the age where they are almost at their worst.

Actually, that's not exactly true. I've been shopping on line for awhile. There are quite a few out there that have been stored away and not driven or driven only occasionally and have very low miles. I guess lots of people thought that when the Camaro and Pontiac were gone - they'd be gone for good. I think now with the resurgence of the new Camaro - alot of them are coming out of the woodwork to be sold. People are probably thinking this is good time to let them go - with the buzz surrounding the new Camaro and all.

Here's a perfect example. Yes, it's WAY over priced and not something I'd be interested in because I think it would be shame to start driving it on even a semi-daily basis at this point but there are quite a few like this one out there - many with less than 10,000 miles on them...

Even with the inflated price tag it's stilll about 10K cheaper than a new Camaro SS/RS convertible...

You'd be surprised how many people bought '02 F-Bodies and just let them sit.

I've got a bit of experience with both the Camaro and the T/A and to be honest, I'd pick the T/A any day. The seats are WAY more comfortable, the styling is more bold and aggressive, and being that Pontiac is no more, I'd wager they are more collectable. The only potential downside if you get a T-Top car is that they can squeak/rattle as they age and get more miles on them.

Well, that's good to hear that there are a few left in decent condition. All the ones around here are at the buy here pay here lots.
