Which LSP and why?

Which one do you use and why?

Are higher end carnauba's like Fuzion, Souveran, and SSII recommended for daily drivers?

Or would it better to get something like Megs NXT 2.0?

I don't mind less durability, but I also want to get good protection after polishing.

I notice the different choices for LSP in the Pro detail threads and the Click and Brags and just am curious why people choose one over the other. My wife is balking at the prices as things are adding up and I want to be able to justify to her what I choose and why.

Thanks.

You’ll never know what you like best until you try it.

So I say just start out with the Meg’s NXT 2.0. It’s cheap, it works, it’s easy to use and it’s available everywhere.

It’ll give you a baseline. If you’re happy you needn’t waste any money looking further. If you want to keep looking, go ahead. Switch if you find something you like better. Stick with it if you don’t.

pc.

I'd give Collinite 476s a try. I've put it on a LOT of cars and have been very happy with the looks and my clients speak of excellent durability which I've seen myself. I've used half a tin in 2 months and enjoy it everytime. NXT 2.0 is great too. Provides more of a sealant look but doesn't have as much durability as 476s IMO.

You could also look into Victoria's Red Concours wax. It's inexpensive, durability is average, but it looks amazing.

Just listing out some waxes that I think provide a lot of value for their dollar.

I'm sure Scottwax will chime in. He's got good insight with this stuff.

I try everything. I really like the Fuzion wax-helped that I got a half full jar free from a fellow member. ;) Pretty pricey if you have to pay full price though. Same with Souveran. Fuzion holds its appearance longer than Souveran does though. I've tried a couple of the Migliore waxes recently too. Nice wet, old school carnauba look (similar to Meguiars #16) but removal isn't nearly as easy as most carnaubas.

Most of the time I use Optimum Opti-Seal as my sealant and Clearkote's Carnauba Moose as my wax. I just keep going back to those two products because they are easy to use, look great, have decent durability and are cost effective.

I'm a newb, but wouldn't a sealant be a better pick over a carnauba for a D/D since it's more durable?

To the OP, I've always used Meguires Tech wax and Gliptone paste carnauba on my Cobra (not daily driven) and have just recently been introduced to the REAL world of detailing, as I like to call it. I've found that if your doing a true "detail" the details really come to light when you use a top of the line product. I've also found that some of the "top of the line" products are more marketing than performance.

Like stated above, you'll need to try different things and see what suits your tastes best. I was always very happy with the results I got from Meguires Tech, but I never knew of anything better. I recently tried DoDo Juice Purple Haze (on just one fender due to the sub zero temps outside right now) and I can already see that it's depth and shine is superior to the OTC stuff I used in the past. I can't speak on durability though since my car won't be out of the garage again until probably March or April.

I read through the entire "post pics of your detailing supplies" thread and found one common theme with a very large percentage of the people who posted pics. Klasse sealants in almost every collection. That was enough for me to get some and that's what I'll be trying on my wife's D/D. Klasse AIO to be specific.

Just my $.02 but again, take it for what its worth, I'm somewhat new to all this.

Some waxes are more durable than some sealants, and some also offer better protection against stuff like bird bombs. I use waxes on more of our daily drivers than I do sealants.

like most people said. nxt 2.0 is a good starter wax, its cheap and its easy on and easy off.

when you see how it looks on ur car, you can either keep with the sealant look or go for the carnauba look, which is a bit 'wetter' than the sealant look

The NXT is more of a sealant too correct? So I could do that and then put a Carnauba over it as well?

I have looked at the sub-zero fuzion deal, however, it doesn't come with the pad or microfiber that Pinnacle Signature Series II Combo comes with. And since I am just starting out, I need to get those supplies as well, and it is cheaper to do it like that. As tempting as the fuzion is.

With SSII and Souveran, durability and protection are measured in days.

Get a tin of 1000P or FK PinkWax, hard to balk at $16.xx. And measure your durability and protection in months

After using Fusion for the last few months I have to believe Fusion must have at least 10-12 weeks of durability.I thought I got it at a good deal @ $99 plus shipping and now its going for $70 that is a great price. I have a black car and Fusion does it justice

Yes, NXT is a synthetic sealant. If you want to top it with a carnauba-based wax, then consider HiTech Yellow Wax (M26). NXT/M26 is a popular combination among Meguiar's afficionados. M26 is a great wax for the money.

For the winter months I like Meguiars #20 Polymer Sealant.

In the summer I alternate between Meguiars #26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax, and Zymol Carbon.

On my beat up Cavalier, (don't laugh!) I like Zymol Cleaner Wax, with an extra topping of Mothers pure carnauba wax.

ive always heard that klasse all in one followed by their sealant glaze produces a shiny though sterile finnish but it lasts for 6 months or more on a daily driven car that sits outside all the time. Another good option i think sumwun already suggested would be collinite 476... i ordered all 3 of these products earlier today after researching online for hours and hours for a good winter wax.. hope it helps :-)

if you want something available anywhere.. 3M performance finish lasts for a good long while too... lasted over 6 months on one of my customers cars.

watever u chose.. make sure you do your prep work.. prep work makes all the difference.

The more people keep talking about this Fuzion special, the more I am wanting to try it.

Would I still be able to use the NXT 2.0 as a sealant before the Fuzion?

Use the paintwork cleanser, then NXT, then Fuzion? Or NXT, Cleanser, Fuzion?

if you're thinking about purchasing it, now would be the time. it's on special right now for $69.99 (regularly $175) and you get a free 16.oz bottle of the wolfgang paintwork polish enhancer too... Wolfgang Fzion Sub-Zero Special, Wolfgang Fuzion Wax Special with Wolfgang Paintwork Polish Enhancer

p.s. you don't get a free re-fill or the wooden box that comes with it. not a big deal...
