Voted for flat. However the finishing pads are not that big of an issue for me.

Ryan, I was watching 007 when you called.

I'll call you tomorrow.

Flat for me. CCS pads have limitations in that you really shouldn't use them with diminishing abrasives.

Flat pads can be used with all product types.

When I first started detailing, I guess I fell for the hype of the CCS pads. Now I'm back on the flat pad wagon. I still use my CCS pads because I have so many of them, but I prefer flat.

I really don't like the CCS pads. They don't work well with the rotary. They are too dense and lack the control I get from flat or better yet concave pads.

Flat. It seems to be harder to break the polish down with the CCS pads. The CCS pads keep throwing out new polish and when you think you are done, you still have non-broken down polish marring the surface a little.

Where are you finding this information? I've ordered directly from Menzerna USA and they sent me CCS pads? What limitations are there? I've never witnessed them.

On flat pads, I notice a little more splatter at times, but minimal at worst.

CCS pads last longer in terms of time polishing than my flats. I find that my flats get saturated very quickly when I polish and are sometimes harder to control :)

I've used only CCS pad's this year and I never had issues with polishing they don't seem to last all that long. Mind you I was using the low profile 6.5" ccs pads.

Where are you guys buying your flat pads nowadays?

Personal experience, based on critical analysis of a job where I had some issues. Upon talking with several other experienced detailers there was a general consensus that logic says you run the risk of having product that is residing inside of the dimples on the CCS pad that may not be fully broken down. Then, if you accidentally or even intentionally apply additional pressure, or maybe an angle or odd surface it may expose the unbroken down particles to the paint introducing deeper scratches if you are at, or very near the end of the buffing cycle.

Make sense?

**This is why I relegate the use of my CCS and Solo (Type of cross cut pad by Meguiar's, for those who don't know [I know you do David]) pads for use of products with non-diminishing abrasives such as M105. I may be a little "AR" about this compared to most, but that's just the way I like to do things :lol :think2

Didn't vote but...

Have yet to try their flat pads but the CCS pads work well for me. Yes, it does

hold product in the pockets but that seems to be helpful at times. A quick dab

gets more product onto the surface and that little extra can be all i need for a

certain spot/recess. Faster than grabbing for the bottle too. The curved edge

is also nice to work with, as I use the blade of the pad often for edges and

some concave areas. I only work on my own paint jobs and the wetsanding

is complete to the edges.

I've used the CCS pad for a while.... I think I'm going to pick up some flat pads again. It's been a long time since I've used a flat pad.... but I'm not really happy with my CCS pads...
