I would think applying it over Opti-Seal would boost durability.

Unless you're concerned about altering a specific characteristic of whatever precedes the Collinite..no, I can't think of any potential problems.



But just recently, somebody got a bit aggressive when they applied 476S (sounded like they overdid the "thin application" thing and thus worked the finish aggressively with their application pad) and it messed up the underlying Meguiar's #81. As long as products like 476S are applied gently there shouldn't be any problems and I've never had 845 effect a solvent-action on any underlying product either.

Well for me, it has lasted longest used over *clean* paint, however it still lasts quite a while over other products.
 
845 is more balanced as far as look/durability. So, I am saying it looks better but last less than 476S. However, keep in mind than both of them look really nice. In addition, any other wax and almost any other sealant will have a heart attack trying to keep up with the collinites as far as durability.....



Application is not hard either. Try them both as pick.

Has anyone applied 476 by hand? I did my windshield today (while still waiting for my 1z polish to come in) and it was like rubbing a candle. I couldn't get this stuff to spread easily, what a work out. I need a PC asap.
 
I'm not a spammer, I own a high end auto detail shop, and am simply providing my professional opinion. It is NOT actually a wax, it is a permanent pre-ceramic film that bonds to the paint and provides a lifetime warranty.
 
Accumulator I trust your reviews so I have 476S on the way! :D I hope is good! I tried the 845 and I was quite impressed, but I thought the removal could have been easier.

I've applied it by hand to my wifes car last week. I also went with Accumulators suggestions and also went with 1Z PP. Just don't apply it to thick and you'll be fine. great stuff!

How did that combo work out for you? If the answer is "not so hot" I'd like to know about it as I recommend that approach a lot. Doing this stuff by hand is never easy...



WhiteFox- As mentioned, the thinner you apply it (while attaining good, uniform coverage) the easier it'll buff off. And applying it over the 1Z will make it a *little* easier too as you're basically layering it over the wax that the 1Z leaves behind. I'd expect the 1z to be the part of it that's a workout (sorry, but that's fair warning).



Note that you could just do a few panels after each of a series of regular washes, that way it'd never be a monumental undertaking. Once you've finished the whole car that way, give it one more coat of Collinite and it'll all look the same.

I was thinking of doing that this way I could also save time by doing it everyday after work, that why I'll have time for the weekend.
 
As i have previous posted I bought 845 and 885 identical to 476s but bigger can. I used today 845. I have previously used a product that in order to achieve good results you should apply thin (1z hart glanz) so I thought I knew what thin coat is. I was WRONG. I used extremely little product and a meg foam pad and it still was too much...:( so I cant judge how good the 845 is but I strongly recommend to use too little product.



oooops wait I didn't give up so easy I have heard too many here mention that collinite 845 has good ability to hide marring so I try it. In an area just washed but not polished (ever in its lifetime) (full of marring and swirls) I do half and half. (half collinite half nothing) the deterrence was WOW!!!! (especially for how easy you can apply collinite...no elbow grease). So I was totally impressed (especially when you consider how cheap collinite is). (sorry no pics as my brother took the camera :( )



And last I put some collinite to some unpainted plastics. They looked good but I do not really know if 845 is ok for plastics.





To sum up. I liked collinite 845 (I still have to test 885) and I recommend it.
 
845 is fine for plastics and rubber trim. Won't be a problem at all. It's interesting how you found Collinite 845 to hide swirls so well. I usually don't really notice any hiding with this wax (at least not that significant).



It's good that you know to apply very little product. A little product goes a long way :) I'm sure you'll be satisfied with the durability of the Collinite, and the BEADING!!
 
since there is another thread about carnauba going, and this collinite one, how much carnauba content does everyone think is in #845? I would guess a very small amount. Seems like mostly resins...AG has it listed in the sealant section, not carnauba.....

Your car probably is in good shape. I used it in a three years old BLACK ford fiesta that had all kind of defects...I cant say that know it perfect but it is better I did not expect that kind of improvement. (if only my brother had not take the camera)

I just pulled that pic off my site. I'd have to dig up the rest of the pics which are either on this comp or the other one. I'll look around after i finish the car i'm about to start on.
 
Today I tested my other collinite (885) according to older post is the 476s but in bigger package. I cant say about durability look etc as I just applied and there was no sun when I finished. I first applied 1z MP via hand and afterwards I applied 885.



I have never used again paste wax so I was a little anxious if I would manage to apply thin and correctly. Guess what?! I found 885 much easier to apply than liquid 845. I used megs foam pad lightly misted with megs QD. I did small sections and buff immediately with a mf.



As 885 is a paste "hard" wax when you put the foam pad in the can only little product get in the pad so you apply thin whether you want or not :P:P.
