which collinite?

I have used NB over UPP...I loved that combo but not the durability. I'm going to put 845 over my UPP this weekend...I have KAIO, UPP x 3 over two weeks, and will drop that on and post up the results, I just want something for all this pollen and dew, then pollen, then dew..then road trip, lol never ending cycle as it warms up towards summer.

Can someone tell me if the 476s/885 will stain trim?

A *qualified* "no". It doesn't stain trim for me and I've used it on a lot of plastic and even rubber trim. But I use a semi-W-O-W-O method and I'm *very* careful to *not* get any excess on there (any excess wax will dry white and you'll get the staining).

So tread carefully with this.. I figure that just because it's worked for me in the past that doesn't mean that the next time I try it on something new it won't be a PIA case of staining.

This reminds me of P21S...a lot of people say it simply doesn't stain, but every now and then somebody says how it *really DID* stain trim for them and all those "no it won't" comments aren't any help to the person with the stained trim.

Where can you buy the 476 locally? I went to west marine today looking for some trailer wiring, and I figured I would check out the cleaners and I saw collinite and was like :O

I can't remember the bottle I saw but it said it was for marine, and airplanes, and also could be used on autos. I think it started with an 8, maybe 845. It was in a bottle too.

I'm thinking about grabbing one and maybe detailing my car this weekend if I have time.

P21S sure stained the heck outta my ex gf's Mini cooper flares around the fenders. It was *not* pretty. :ignore

Nimble- Yeah, that's exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of!

WhiteFox- Since you can get the 845 locally (i'm pretty sure that's what you saw), I'd probably just go with that. I've never seen 476S in a store. There *is* some place offering free shipping if you want to order it, but I can't remember who it is.

Detailing supplies for the marine and automotive industries from MacTec

Free shipping cheap prices.

I also ordered from Mactec after reading about them on a thread here. The free shipping is a no-brainer. Where else can you order just one item (at a reasonable cost) without shipping costs ruining the deal?

The only issue I have with Mactec so far is that I wish their communications was better. They sent me a confirmation email about my order early Tues morning and I haven't gotten any response whether the item shipped, if it has a tracking #, nor has the product arrived at my doorstep yet. Oh well, I can't complain because the shipping was free.

I got confused :S.

I want a wax ( i tend to believe that wax is a sealant...Am I correct) durable and easy to apply. I had decide to buy 476s because everyone says it is very durable. Then I read (in this topic) that 915 is as durable as 476s but it contain more product (so it would be cheaper also).

Between 915 and 476s wich one should I choose?

Also I read in this tread that Collinite #885 is the same as 476s but with different label. After search in collinite site I found that they have the same datasheet but are the same?

To make the long story short. I can afford two collinite wax but which ones?(I want best bang for my buck (more product) durability (silver car 24h outside) and easy to apply)

845?,476s?,885?,915?

And one last question are 476s etc easy to apply? I ask because what I have used so far was in liquid form.

does anyone have pictures of collinite on a black car ?

Yes! This is 476 only on the truck. Nothing else.

deathlok- Opinions regarding 915 vs. 885/476S seem to vary, even among the employees at Collinite! You wouldn't go wrong with either one.

AFAIK the 885 and 476S *are* the same. I bought the 476S but that's just me and the larger/more economical can of 885 might be easier to get a pad into so :nixweiss

Easy to use?..well, I gotta say that the Collinite pastes aren't the *easiest* products to work with but I also have to say that I've never had a problem.

I guess I'd recommend to do what I *did* do (well, don't go buying a *case* of it the way I did..) and get both the 845 IW and the 476S/885. They're both good and I sometimes put the 845 on first and then add the paste later. For the money involved I think that'd be the best way to decide what's best for *you*.

I knew that you will answer! Thx Axxumulator.

As I said I can afford two of them so I will definitely go for 845 (easy apply) and 885 or 915 (I decide the last minute but probably 885)

finally I bought 885 and 845 (Both cost me 34 euro...pretty cheap) thx for the advice I post some comments when I use them.

It can be applied at home, but for best results should be installed by professional installer, as infrared curing lights are a big help, and help film cure very very hard.

Don't worry, he's a spammer. Matrix micro coating? That's like the 4th time I've seen that guy post that in a wax-related thread. He makes no sense.

For you Insulator Wax users, how does applying it over RMG, VM or Op. Poly-Seal affect itts durability?

Thanks.
