Which clay?

I have used 2 clays, Meguiar's white clay (that comes in the kit with quick detailer and a few microfibers), and Wolfgang clay. The Meguiar's clay has a fine, smooth texture and when it's exhausted from picking up contaminant it loses its flexibilty and starts to tear instead of stretch.

The Wolfgang clay has a much rougher texture and seems to tear instead of bend right out of the package.

I like the Meguiar's clay much better. I do not want to buy microfibers and a bottle of QD every time I want a bar of clay, though. Where can I buy that kind of clay by itself?

Pinnacle UltraPoly for the win. Easy to use, gentle without being useless, and holds up really well. One bar is enough for two separate bars too.

A lot of people around here (including me) like clay magic a lot. It usually prices for $10.99 vs. $17.99 for the Meg's. It's very durable too IMHO.

I'd actually like to try some different clays (other than Mother's and CM) when I can free up some funds.

I have had good luck with Zaino Clay bar. It doesn't seem to loosen up after excessive use and seems to do a great job of picking up contaminants.

I've used Zaino, Megs white, Clay Magic, and Sonus green. I like Zaino the best. It's pliable and does a very good job of removing contaminants.

Sonus Green- gentle, one of the mildest I have used. Most enjoyable clay to use and arguably the "safest".

Zaino Clay- Nice and pliable, mild.

Automagic Blue- I dont like the hardness and the residue, but it works well, usually marrs softish paint.

Megs Red- Serious claying, marrs easily, but the marring polishes out with FPII/OP and a blue pad.

I think there are 12 other threads like this, consider, possibly, searching.

Europe. Meg’s doesn’t sell the white clay by itself in North America.

The only mild clay Meg’s sells by itself around here is their blue C2000 professional clay, which is sold through body shop suppliers. (on sale at Amazon.com right now for $18.88, a really good price, it has twice the clay of the kit)

PC.

How long, or should I say how many cars is a single clay claybar typically good for?

When I used the Clay Magic (wasn't impressed) it lasted three uses for me before seeming to be too dirty in my opinion. The Meg's white I used was still good after similar use but I had misplaced it when moving. :(

I'm still not certain I was utilizing it correctly either though but I'd spray an area (usually 1x2ft) with QD and rub the clay across that area two to three times and then wipe away with a Vroom MF cloth.

I am thinking of ordering some Adam's clay but honestly I found the Meg's to be nice so I may just look for some more of that.

I used Poorboys on the last 2 cars I detailed. It worked great and didn't come apart when using it with Poorboys Shampoo.

I might try Pinnacle next time around..

I have all three colors from pacific produx on ebay. I bought them around 8-9 dollars for 200grams. It's well worth it. I use the grey one often, purple one second, the green one is mild, but it's REALLY hard to mold unless you have hot water.
