Which auto manufacturer has the best paint?

A decade later, I wonder if this list has now changed. Who today produces cars with the best paint quality?

I worked on an Acura NSX that had paint that was as 'orange peel' free as I had ever seen.

VW & Audi are up there as well but a bit 'hard' to polish up.

I think VAG still leads it ten years later. Even neglected 10 year Audis clean up so well. MB is right up there. While Japanese don't have the greatest paint, at least its not like American economy cars that have paint failing after five years. The Koreans seem to be getting some glossy paint jobs out, I can't help but notice some serious gloss on KIAs and Hyundais.

Best I've seen recently (never detailed them but at auto shows under fluorescent lighting) was an absolutely gorgeous Porsche 991 and a Corvette ZR1 tri-coat. High end English cars are among the best.

I have a BMW and I love the thing, but it has a fair amount of orange peel effect in the paint.

Been working on a pair of Lexus LS460s over the past summer and they have zero orange peel. Easily the best paint I've ever seen.

I've been impressed with the shine, deepness, and durability on my silver 2007 Mazda CX-7, but it has always had some clouding effects that you can notice at wide angles.

Of the cars I've detailed, Hondas are consistently awful. Although it probably doesn't help that Honda owners tend to treat their cars like lawn mowers. Wouldn't surprise me if Honda recognizes that and uses cheap paint to keep costs down.

I'm not sure what I'd consider the best. The condition of most cars I detail are a reflection of the owners more than the manufacturer.
