I am going to purchase a PC from coastal tools, but I will need to purchase the velco attachment elsewhere as I am told. Where can I purchase this part?Thank.

I bought mine from Coastal tools and also bought the vlecro backing plate from them. I then went local to buy the Meguiars pads...If you don't see it on there site..call them...

What has your experience been with Meguiar's pads, particularly their cutting pad? I have only used the CMA pads, but I would like to use the Meguiar's pads since I can buy them locally.

I really like them, I use the cutting pad (purple) for my "Part 2", cleaning the paint and to remove some oxidation and light scatches...I use the yellow polishing pad for machine polish and even some cleaning if the car isn't too bad....once it gets dirty i use another pad...i rarely use just one pad on the whole car..

The reason i don;t use CMA's is the colors of the pads are different then meguiars and i don't want to mix them up

I like CMA's kit, got a good starter kit as a nice price and I like the concave pads, really eliminates splatter (whoa what a mess with the rotary.)

If you can get Meguiar's pads locally then sure get them. I used the foam pads for Meguiars before, has a small amount of splatter if you run it to fast, but its a very good pad, I have one of the yellow polishing pad (thanks Brian) and used the maroon cutting and finishing pad before.

I recommend getting two of each, then getting more pads when you see you use one foam pad more than others.

I just ordered mine from ToolsForLess.com. I think the velcro backing plate was $20 and it is a Porter Cable Piece.

www.motorhead.net sells both the Meguiar's PC pads in two sizes and Meguiar's velcro backing plates. If I get my PC next month, i'll probably order the backing plate from them and either order from Meguiar's or Motorhead for the pads.

do any of you guys use the 3m waffle pads with PC?,

for polishing?, i was going to but now i'm not so sure:nixweiss

tomciob - I use the 3M black glazing waffle pads (p/n 05729) but as they're very soft, SMR and foam pad polishes don't work well on them - it takes alot of passes.

I use them for glazes and wax, and they work great for those purposes.
