Where do you mount your portable GPS?

I almost never actually look at the GPS. I listen to the voice commands and my wife does most of the actually navigation! She's a pretty good co-pilot!:)

Bill - clever idea. Personally, I don't like the windshield suction cup mounts. They mess up the windshield, they aren't easy to adjust, and are difficult to move around the cabin.

I bought a Garmin friction mount. It's sort of a "bean bag" that sits on your dash or console and the GPS clips to it. At first I thought it would slide around on the dash, but no matter how hard I corner or brake, it doesn't move an inch. For about 20 bucks (amazon.com), I highly recommend it.

our car with the portable gps uses one of those heavy weighted bean bags. works well and less obtrusive than a windshield mount. i like bill's idea as i have on one car a pop out cup holder at the top of the central instrument stack and his "invention" would put the gps in a perfect position just like the in dash nav systems.

My son told me to sell those Armorall Tire Foam lids on eBay for 5 bucks each as a cup holder mount for the GPS!

LOL... I'm sure I'd get some negative feedback on those!

Neat idea!

For me...The Sky has Onstar that gives directions through the radio display and speakers. Either of our other cars get a printout from mapquest before the trip.

Wish I had the :money: to go get one.

when money permits, get one (it's like driving with a road dictionary/atlas and makes you feel safer if you go to areas that you are not familiar with). i also love the fact that it re-directs you onto a freeway if you don't know here to get on. while i currently have one that i got free from a family friend, i'm waiting in the next few months for the black friday and christmas sales on them (going to get a tomtom) so i can have another with a bigger screen (i want the 4.3"). i've done my research on them so i know exactly what i want...
