Please explain what are the same product numbers for different polishes. I'll try to help.

SuperBee364 said:I think he means, for example, PO85RD vs. PO85RD3.02. Tacking additional numbers/letters onto the end of the PO85RD is a bit confusing. Two completely different products. Then to "clarify things", Menz USA decides to change PO85RD3.02 to P083Q.

It was alway our intention when the Menzerna line was introduced to the detail/reconditioner market to sell products with descriptive names, such as Intensive, Micro, Final, Nano, etc. Of course, each of these carried a manufacturing part number. As we gained popularity in the US marketplace, the word spread through forums such as Autopia which has worldwide presence. When distributors from outside of North America decided to also sell Menzerna to their home market, they sold under the manufacturing part number, and not always was it the same exact formulation as our product offering. Without having a centralized harmonized offering of product, you now have many different fundamentally similar products being sold to the same detailing market. In Marketing 101, this would be a grade of D-!
So, why so many different similar products? This is because Menzerna developed the many different polishes for very specific manufacturing requirements at the production factory level. Unlike other companies that specifically targeted detailing, Menzerna never intended to target detailing. MenzernaUSA however realized the potential and opportunity of offering professional grade polishes and selected the most appropriate products. As new, or more accurately, different products were developed, they too were sold.
Getting back to the topic of 85RD vs. 85RE5, I would be confident to say that it would be virtually impossible for someone polishing a car to notice the difference. These are just two products in a long progression of polishes that are from the same family. We had decided to offer only the most universal, and most efficient product in this family, the PO106.
I hope that this helps. Oh, and yes, I still believe that PO83 is a clearer and simpler part number than PO85RD3.02.
