When using your PC on, how often do you switch pads?

I find that I am using 4 pads per car. Is that too much? Am I using too much product when removing swirls and stuff like that?

When applying Klasse AIO or similiar, do you use one pad for the whole car?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks boys!

When i'm polishing, usually i use 2 pads at most, sometimes i can get away with one if it's light. For an LSP i only use one pad.

Do you find your pads get too saturated?

I usually use one and at the most two pads. Perhaps you are using too much product. When using AIO, I usually apply the product to the pad and then rub the product on the paint with the PC off. Then I start the PC and go over the area.

I used to use multiple pads on a single car, then after learning here I found i was using way to much product. now I can use one pad for an entire car maybe even two. it all depends on the pad and the product. with AIO I did my car and my GF's car last weekend, pad looked like hell when I was done. Great thing about AIO is the pad cleans up VERY well.

In short...If your finding your pad getting gunked up early, try using less product.

Depends on how many polishes I use. I often wind up using at most maybe 2 yellow LC pads and 2 white LC pads. I probably could get by with half but I have so I like to switch to fresh. When I use these 4 pads I definitely wash the pad before switching over to another polish. Ive gone over the top and washed the pad after polishing each panel too :o

I agree with the others, if it's your personal car (which I am figuring has already been brought up to standard ;) ).

You should be able to use one pad per product...if you're doing a one step, then one pad. If your putting down, say, AIO + SG, then you should be using two pads etc.

On a first time detail on someone else's car, then the bets are off....I'll clean the pads (plastic bristle brush) during the detail, but I won't hesitate to change to a new/clean pad if I feel the one I'm using is starting to 'load up' to the point where it needs a real cleaning w/SG and Murphey's.

When removing swirls I usually use an orange pad andsome DACP or 3M Finesse IT. I find that the pads get full of stuff after only a hood and a quarter. Then I get scared to remove the excess and use the pad again, so I find myself using 4 pads. I am scared to useless product because it seems as though there is a greater risk for friction to heat up and cause damage.

For AIO I typically use two pads. I always soak my pads after using then put in the washer. We have one of those front loading washers with out the agitator so it is pretty easy on the pads.

Thanks!

Definitly different pad for each product.

The orange pad tends to saturate pretty quickly. When i use the orange pad and FPII, i put 4 nickel size dots near the edge of the pad. When you move to the next panel, try not using additional product and try using whats left over on the pad. Possibly it will transfer to the paint and off the pad.

I use one pad per product. 1 for SMR, 1 for Cleaning, 1 for a LSP.

There have been times when I've used two pads with the same product. 1 pad for half of the car, the other pad for the other half. This was using a white LC polishing pad with a cleaner. The pad looked pretty dirty half way through, so I decided to use a new one.
