I am using SFX1 with a Orange light cutting pad. Vehicle has alot of heavy marring and such. I am using it on 6 with a PC with good amount of pressure. I am happy cuz it took a good 80% or more out. Would it make my work easier and take more out by using yellow pad? Finishing up with white pad and FPII then topping with NXT. Thx.

if a product/pad doesn't cut through the swirls/marring to my liking after 2 attempts, i'll step up to the next level of product. if that doesn't do it...then i go to the next level of pad.
so, in your case...either try a stronger polish w/ the orange or go to the yellow. you will have to follow the yellow with a lighter pad, of course, to get rid of the pad induced marring.

Make sure you're using a product that doesn't hide the defects (via fillers)...otherwise the marring will soon re-appear. You can also wipe down with IPA, etc. to remove fillers or residue left behind so you can ensure you've corrected the surface.

I use OP with everything from a yellow to a white pad, totally pad dependent polish.
In fact, you can work OP for longer then you can stand there and hold your pc, so a trick I learned is to use OP with a yellow to get most of the swirls out, then wipe a small section with MF to check for swirls, if most are gone, LEAVE THE POLISH ONT HE SURFACE and switch to a white polishing pad that has been misted lightly with water. Then continue to work the OP until its basically clear and there you have it, cut and finish in one polish with no removal in-between.
When I say you can work OP forever, I mean it...
Give my 2-pad no removal method a try... I find it works well on my car which is black with no metallic, so I think if it was causing any problems, I would see it on my black.
But remeber, whatever polish you use, ALWAYS follow with RMG unless you're using a sealant.

I also have SFX-1 and I did spot repairs on my car with a 4" orange CCS pad. That combo seems to work well. It took me 2 or 3 tries to get the scratch out.
If I wanted to eliminate that scratch with 1 pass, I could of used a 4" yellow CCS pad and then SFX-1 which would of made my process faster. I like that combo a lot.

Would something like this be an example of heaving marring?
The car is a '94 Olds, never been polished in its life I wager. Split the hood and went over the side of choosing twice with IP on a Green Edge pad, then followed it up twice with 106FF on a orange Edge pad.
This is what I could only do:
I am guessing I will have to pick up some yellow Edge pads or Power Gloss.

Also GM clear is a little harder then most.

I too have the same issue and I'm confused at the moment.
I used the Sonus Swirl remover pad (the thicker orange pad) with Meguiars #80. Took most of the swirls out and I'm left with the second picture - a few fine scratches.
Is that normal? And when I'm done, should it be perfectly smooth with no fine scraches?
Just want to make sure that I'm not doing too much

Lately, I've been encountering heavy heavy marring/micromarring after using a yellow pad. I've used OC, XMT4, and XMT3. What is causing the marring? I assume it's the pad, but is it because I'm using to much pressure? Working the polish in to long? to short?

Using pressure could be the problem. I don't use any usually but let the product do the work
