When to use cleaner wax?

I am guessing by "polishing a little" you mean with a "real" polish. You have a good point! I was just figuring that what little polish was in CW was enough. As far as the wax part of it I don't feel that it's neccesary to use as expensive topper on areas like that.....opnions?

Hey, I'll use a cleaner wax a lot of times on friends cars when I am pressed for time. If all I have time for is a quick wash and wax, I'd rather do that than do a quick wash and clean with no wax. That way they can come back next week and I can wash and add another coat of wax to help the shine factor. And, if they don't come back, at least the car has some wax protection. Mother's cleaner wax is my go to product for this.

Yeah, I use a regular polish that'll work OK by hand. I usually start with something pretty aggressive to do a lot of leveling, but you gotta watch it as the paint can sometimes be *incredibly* thin in those areas

Dunno if I'd think of what I use as "expensive"..I only use Souveran on the Jag. Other stuff seems to equal out cost-wise since really inexpensive stuff seldom lasts all that long, and durable stuff like Collinite is still pretty cheap.

I just like using the same LSP on those spots as on the rest of the car..but then I'm kinda nutty about this topic. I just love how slick, long-lasting LSPs work when I wash- the [crap] just floats off the sufaces and they're nice and clean with very little effort. Since I generally use really durable LSPs, it's not like I have to do this very often. A little spritz of QD while I'm drying and my daily drivers have showcar-level doorjambs :D

An elderly car-nut friend of mine once paid me some truly great compliments about this and I sure got a kick out of it :D I think I originally got the idea from my mother; in old family pics the doorjambs of her (and her sister's) car were always spotless, far better than my dad kept his!
