When Do You Cry Over Spilt Milk? Carpets+Sour Milk=what next?

Brenton

aka PEI Detail
Customer came by with sour milk in her carpet. She didn't know it was there till she smelled it. Her kids' gift to her new minivan.
I've used a lot of things. The stain is gone, and the smell is gone from the area, but overall the smell still lingers.
What do I do?

have u tried soaking it for a long time with oxymix and then extracting it. a little scrub to sort of loosen the smell would add as well.

I've been using a product called Kids N' Pets recently and it does an EXCELLENT job on stains and odors. Do you have a walmart or target in your area?

Blot up any remaining liquid with a towel. Pour baking soda over the area where the milk was spilled. Sprinkle cold water on top of the baking soda.
Let stand overnight. Vacuum to remove baking soda.

If the smell remains, try treating the area with white vinegar. Let sit for 15 minutes, then blot excess vinegar with paper towels. If vinegar fails to beat the stink, tackle it with an enzyme odor remover.

Allow the area to dry completely: residual moisture can cause mildew.

Thanx for the advice.
What I did first was spray with Oxiclean, then use a cloth to transfer the portion of the stain on top by dabbing. Then sprayed thoroughly with Oxiclean. Let it sit, than sprayed and agitated, and then sucked it up. I did it several times.
I could put my face right up to the stain and there wasn't much smell, but it lingered in the car. I sprayed Zep Odor Destroyer heavily in the area, which has enzymes that break down bacteria. I vacuumed and shampooed the whole car, and wiped everything down to make sure there wasn't other areas.
The smell still lingers, but I told her to come back tomorrow and we'll vacuum and spray Odor Destroyer again. We'll see. If this doesn't work, I'll try these other things.

Edit: I'm home and washed up, and I can still smell the sour milk and kid manure. It's burned into my nostrils.

You're not supposed to bring work homw with you !!

What you could do is get a mixture of lemon juice and water this is a tip from a nurse I tried it once worked ok for me off vinyl flooring.
failing that you need to get a product which attacks the enzymes.

Good Luck.
