When do switch from PC to hand for odd shaped body panels or transitions(Mustang)

I have an 03 GT and when using the PC I always feel weird about working around the front bumper headlights since they have a ledge and the door sill that is next to the rollups since the area is small and you can't get the whole pad on there. Can I just use the edge of the pc pad and be fine.

Just wondering cause these areas I usually do by hand and it would be more time efficient and easier with PC:o

Also the side scoops are a major transition and is it OK to move over panles like that and hit at an angle with the pc and just increase pressure to make it flat?

Thanks for any help :xyxthumbs

you could try to use the edge of the pad for those areas. i used to do it that way on my Mach1, but when i would polish, my 6.5" pads couldn't get in those areas well enough to remove the scratches. i've since got one of those 'spot polishing' packages (4" pads with backing plate) and they seem to be easier to get more of the pad in, and keeping the pad flatter.

The PC is so mild that yeah, IMO it's safe to use the edge of the pad. I've done it for years.

Sometimes the 4" pad gets into a tight spot, and sometimes the best method is to use a bigger pad and let the overhanging edge get in there. You just have to experiment a little.

Thanks Hirosh and Accumulator

Looks like a 4" kit is in my future will the madness ever end and don't tell the wife:o

I'm gonna try it with the edge of my excel pads first and take it from there the ledges next to the door glasses scratches easily for some reason.
