i used acid and very course plastic bristel brush.........still black brake dust specs.........iam sure i could have spent another hour cleaning the wheels and maybe it would have been perfect.......but i dont have an hour
what do you guys do when your doing a clients car and it just doesnt come off?
help please

What kind of acid are you using? Also what dilution ratio are you using it at?

You should invest in a pressure washer, It really helps in getting in the tight areas.

If they are clearcoated wheels, definitely try some clay. When I first bought my truck a couple years ago, it had some pretty badly baked on brake dust. Some clay, time, and elbow grease got out about 90% of it.

If the wheels are cool.....

Spray the wheels with a chemical cleaner, agitate with a brush, and use a power washer. Nothing comes close to it on nasty wheels. 1000PSI is about all the power you need.

i have tried that.....3:1 water:acid ratio, i used the power washer and scrubbed hard......i guess there is no easy or quick way of cleaning baked on brake dust

You might want to bump up the acid ratio to 2:1, but if you're already using a power washer, scrubbing, etc.... then it sounds like you're dealing with VERY neglected wheels, which are always a PITA.

When you're cleaning the inner rim use #000 wool. It helps break it down.
