Wheel Wooley

I've been trying for a couple of years to find a replacement for my wheel brush. It's called a Wheel Wooley and is a plastic handle with a tapered wool cover. This brush has been perfect for my black painted wheels on my Vette and CRV. Every other brush I've seen has nylon bristles that I'm sure would scratch the paint. My brush is about 8 years old and I'm starting to panic! Anyone got any leads on a brush? Thanks!

About a year ago, someone else mentioned Pep Boys also. I live in Omaha and don't have any Pep Boys here, but called 3 of them in Kansas City and all three acted like I must be nuts. If anyone out there has a Pep Boys, I'd love it if they could check it out at their convenience and let me know. This thing has lasted me for years, but I'd buy several as I've got 5 cars that I use it on!

Just a little follow-up. Called a Pep Boys in Illinois, guy there not only acted like I was crazy, he was totally rude about it. Guess not having a PB in Omaha is no great loss, we've already got enough rude, no minds to put up with. Well, guess I gotta find some wool and make my own brushes!

 People really need to learn how to just be respectful towards possible customers. To think they want you to purchase things from them.

Hey Dan,

I stopped at my local Pep Bubbas tonight and looked for your wheel wooley (I needed a few apps and some other stuff). No such animal exists. I looked at everything they offered. Its not at AutoZone either but that doesn't surprise me. ATL area AZ's are *horrible*.

If I run across one in my travels I'll grab it for ya.

Thanks, bretfaz! Like I said, I know it exists cause I own one. Maybe this will be my retirement biz, all I need are a few sheepskins!

if you can take a picture of it im sure one of us can find one localy. I have had great helpers here. I dont mind taking a look for you here, we have Autozone and Pep boys among others in the area.

OK, so here it is. Perfect for delicate painted wheels. This one is many years old and still in pretty good shape, but like I said, I've now got 5 cars to use it on. I feel like I'm in search of the holy grail!

you know what that looks like to me, is one of those feather duster things. I assume this has the plastic handle stem up the middle of it? Might go looking for one of these:

only difference here is that the handles are wood and not plastic.

I have actually had great results with the EZ Motorcycle detailing brush that I purchased from Top of the Line. The brush is bendable to get into hard to reach areas and I find it great to clean the back sides of my wheels where I can't normally reach.

The one you have seems too expensive. How about this one from CMA??? A lot cheaper than the one you have but I have a feeling that it will scratch :nixweiss

dlw - I was the one that tried to pick one of those WW's up last year. I'm in the Denver Area and have kept my eyes open for the WW since. Sorry to report that I have not seen them since Pep Boys stopped carrying them. Best of luck. - David
