Wheel spotting - how to remove

As it says. This pic was taken in July of '07 , about a week after I bought the car. The wheels look the same even now. I've tried claying, then waxing and it didn't work. Figured I'd ask you guys as I've had some great help so far :D

I think the stain is because the wheel cleaner has dried up on your wheels, try metal polish though. Or maybe you can buy power ball.
 
Try a metal polish that's not to abrasive, then a good tire dressing after wiping off the polish! Message the dressing onto the wheel!
 
i have similar marks on my daughter's jeep rims (purchased used). i tried using the megiur's power ball w/ menzerna SIP polish and with a good improvement. they continued to look good for a few weeks and then the 'stain' started to leach back. b/c of that i'm assuming it is etched into the clear coat. so i'm also interested to here feedback from folks.
