wheel sealants...are they worth it?

Do wheel sealants really hold up better than if you just waxed or used a polish/wax instead? (or something to that extent) I was thinking of looking into the DP Wheel Glaze but if its not going to give better resutls than using the products I already have why buy it, any opinions? Does CG make a wheel sealant?

I have Poorboy's Wheel Sealant(I'm not sure if CG has one of their own) and I have been happy with it. It does a great job of repelling brake dust.

With Zaino on my wheels, it didn't repel dust, it just made it easier to clean.

And Wheel Sealant is a nice paste that should outlast my car at the rate I use it! So it's pretty cheap if you look at it that way!:)

I agree with drewski on every point he made. I've tried AIO then SG (3x) on my wheels and it does make them very easy to clean. Yet, with the PB's WS, I definitely notice less brake dust buildup in addition to the wheels being very easy to clean w/ just soap and water. This is Audi brake dust which is almost as renown as the infamous BMW/Mercedes dusters.

I have been questioned by certain "non-believers" before that they didn't accept that a dedicated wheel sealant was any better than say KSG or Z2. There counter was why not use it on the rest of the car if it's so good. I can't answer their criticisms, but I did the product test for myself and my results proved the PB's works for me.

I currently use PB WS and am very happy with it. It really makes the color pop! and cleanup is a breeze.

From what I understand, PB wheel sealant just seals ( and works well). but Wheel Wax is suppose to clean as well as seal. I gues illiminateing an AIO or similar step before putting on PB. Anyone find this to be the case? If so I may have to try Wheel wax.........less work?

Just my take...

True waxes melt at 135 degrees. That's about the third stopsign...

Sealants melt at about 465 degrees.

Notice that this is not product specific. ):

Good point Jimmy. That is why the Poorboys works so well. It was formulated for high brake temps.

I have noticed that Wheel Sealant lasts longer than plain AIO.

I have Wheel Wax and it does a nice job cleaning and shining the wheels and they are easier to clean...although regular Moose Wax works too and since it is petroleum based, it holds up about as well.

I have to try them in order to give a veredict, but so far very pleased with my current selection for the wheels.

AIO + Collinite IW = Armor

My current selection is a variation of Seth's excellent combo. Mine goes:

NuFinish + (2) Collinite 854 IW

Why NuFinish? Its cleaning properties are within striking distance of AIO. Durable sealant, good base. Seems it has been reformulated as shines better than before. When I graduated from NuFinish I had no use for it, so I got the idea to use it for the rims after washes. Very nice surprise.

Why Collinite 845 IW? Designed for power lines, very nice looking and tough. Holds up easily for 4 weeks (when I reapply it). A lot has been said about this outstanding product.

I use PB's pro polish to clean PB wheel sealant to protect, and PB's spray and rinse to clean during my wash process and I've been very happy with the results.

I'm definately sold on the PB' sealant, cleaning is a breeze and it's durabilty is great. I have also tried DP'S version... I didn't care for the grape kiddy candy smell...I actually got some interest from bugs while applying.

I just applied one coat to the new H2 chrome rims. Looks real nice. Is one coat enough or do you guys usually apply several coats?
