Wheel sealant consistency?

I recently bought a jar of wheel sealant from autogeek.com, the package had to sit outside about 3 hours before I got in into my house. When I first opened the wheel sealant it looked like the consistency was hard similar to a paste wax but it had cracked down the center from the cold.

Anyways the other day after cleaning my wheels I decide to apply a coat of wheel sealant. So I go to put the applicator into the jar and to my suprise the sealant ends up being very soft... is this normal?

Or did something happen when it was out in the cold?

Also what is your applicator preference when applying wheel sealant, MF or foam?

It's supposed to be soft, not hard like a paste wax. But then again, how soft is soft? As long as it has consistency to it, you'll be good. And I'd go with MF.

It is like a softened paste, but with small bubbles throughout. It should be light and airy, not hard.

That's lots o' help I'm sure.

I am expecting my First Container of Wheel Sealant any day now so if anyone has any tips as far as applying and removing it that would also be great and I am sure Chris would also appreciate that. How do you apply it. With What is it a Foam applicator or MF? How long do you let it sit on the wheel surface prior to removal? And also how often you re apply it?

Mine is the consistency that PEI mentioned.

After the surface of the wheel is clean and dry I use a yellow foam applicator. I use very little to go a long way. Let it haze. Wipe it down with a work MF towel.

I start on a wheel then work my way around the truck. Because I get help from the Little Detailer(LD) by the time that I am around the truck it has hazed enough to wipe off then I re-apply. I am satisfied with two layers but I do it every two weeks. Just to keep LD in practice. If I were to go a month I would put on three layers.

Cool, thanks guys... its definetly the consistency you described. :D

I used a MF applicator and just went around my car doing one wheel at a time. Then came back around and removed the sealant immediately, so roughly maybe 10 minutes of cure time. I got lazy though and only applied one coat because it was getting too cold outside, next time Im going to go with at least two coats.

What do you guys think about topping the wheel sealant with Nattys ?

and an off topic question about Nattys... The majority of my car is pearl white but I do have a CF hood which seems to show the most marring. I was going to place an order today and I dont know if I should go with Nattys or Nattys blue, opinions please?

Yes that's the consistency ...it can be applied and then left to haze or used as a WOWO ....I would not put Natty's on top of the Wheel Sealant as wax will not stand up to heat or weather as well as a sealant.
If you have micro-marring on the CF hood and are trying to get a bit more hiding ability, I would choose Natty's Blue. :)
