Can't find an answer on these gang!!

If wheels are AIO/SG'd:

1) Will Sonus wheel gel, when cleaning the wheel, remove the AIO/SG, thus forcing the application of more??

2) Will cleaning the wheels with 1:1 dilute EF High Intensity remove the AIO/SG, again, forcing the application of more???

Anyone with experience on this one??????????????

never used sonus, but the EF High Intensity would easily strip anything. if the wheels are klasse'd, simple car wash solution has always been plenty for me.

AIO only, do not SG... no need.

Sonus will not remove AIO. It is neutral pH.

EF at 1:1 with water will remove AIO. It has a low pH.

If you wash your car weekly and AIO your wheels every 3 months, you do not need to use harsh cleaners on your wheels. Your standard wash shampoo and a sponge/brush will work just fine.

No Wonder EF works so well. I was under the impression that it was not as harsh as others. Meg. Gold Class Wheel Cleaner altered the color of my discs, so that baby is harsh!! Would it be better to 1:3 EF instead. I am kind of disappointed if EF is that harsh because that 1:1 and a small soft brush did wonders for my wheels and did not put a corrosive looking color change on the discs. Some of the members had said that SG on the tires was good also.....why don't you like it Dave???? Thanks for the info....much appreciated fellas

i think it would be best to just use car shampoo instead of EFHI at all like David said. how long do you go in between washes?

I #20 my wheels every 2 or 3 months, and so far, I have not had to use wheel cleaners on my wheels, just car soap. So AIO should be even easier.

I would love to wash the car every 3 days, but I would say I am averaging every 10-14 days right now....plus we have had snow and a serious cold spell here is St. Louis in the last several weeks. 50s this weekend though, so may be able to get some stuff done on it.

Haven't AIO'd the wheels yet. Still using the Einmann with a brush which works well. I will probably use EF before putting on the AIO just to really clean them well, then start using wash soap or the Sonus Gel.

If I'm not mistaken, the Meguiar's Gold Class Wheel Cleaner is an acid cleaner, so it'd be wise not to use it because it is indeed, as you noticed, harsh.

I've been using what's left of my Pre-Zaino days, Meguiar's Gold Class Car Shampoo to wash my wheels with. I have about half a gallon left. I pour about 4-5 ounces into a bucket, fill with water, and brush my wheels. I have about 4 brushes I clean my wheels with.

Make sure to wash those wheels frequently! BMW's are notorious for massive brake dust build-up.

Yeah, I have been washing my wheels....actually more than the car itself....I love the wheels to be clean. I use Gold Class wash for the car, so I will try it for the wheels once i Klasse 'em.

I'm actually kinda surprised that Sonus won't take off AIO (just because of pH?). Usually stuff strong enough to clean wheels will wipe out any protection you have - hence the usual reason to wash with regular soap only. Time to check this stuff out.

bmw530i2003,

I know what you're going through with those bimmer wheels. I didn't know what brake dust was till I bought the BMW. It really is PITA to keep them clean.

My routine is to wash my car every weekend but wheels get washed at least once in the midle of the week. I put SG on wheels and use car shampoo only with dedicated mitt and brush. SG makes cleaning them much easier and I'm sure AIO does as well.

You may want to get some Sonus gel in case that you let your wheels get really dirty.

BTW do you have sport package? SP wheels on 530i are great looking but really hard to clean.

Hey F1:

Got the Klasse-Sonus kit from CMA a couple weeks ago, so I have it all. Clean wheels on the bimmer ROCK man, I try not to go more than a week without at least cleaning the wheels. I really like the way the EF cleans them...haven't gone with the AIO yet.

BTW, I have both the sport and premium packages....I love the wheels.....would NOT want any other wheel design. Not TOO bad to clean because I have a long thin brush which easily fits into all the nooks and crannys. I understand what you mean though because on my model wheels, there are a lot of nooks and crannys:eek:

Was way too busy today to do anything, plus it only got up to about 48 degrees or so I think, so a little chilly....we'll see tomorrow....my wheels are screaming for some AIO....

Dave B: You never answered regarding why you thought no SG was needed for the wheels. Just curious what your opinion is on that.
