Wheel marks

Spotted these marks in a few different spots on two of my wheels, however always in the "V" of a spoke. Wheels were flawless when purchased. Its on a BMW, so brake dust is abundant, but I keep the car very clean, washed weekly.

I wash the wheels while cool, usually rinsed first but on occasion I've applied Sonax while the wheel was dry. Never let dwell longer then 3 minutes.

I've tried some elbow grease and soapy water, and tried clay once without any improvement.

Planning to stick with soap and water from here on out.

Your thoughts please on.

1. Is it due to Sonax or brake dust or both?

2. How can I make it go away?

Thanks

Are those marks on the front wheels or the rears?

If front, I would say that the notorious BMW brake dust etched the clear coat. If stained only then it could be polished out.

It's very likely that the Sonax / brake dust has dried and stained the surface- try a chemical paint cleaner or as tom p. stated polish should remove it

I'll try a polish, TOGWT, did you mean a pre wax cleaner? Or did you mean something else? Thanks to you both.

On the basis of 'least abrasive first' try a pre-wax (chemical paint cleaner) first, if not step-up to an abrasive polish

By Sonax you mean 'full effect' or other wheel cleaner of the range? Perhaps using a deironiser like IronX might also provide some improvement. First of course go with the proposal of the knowledgeable gentlemen Tom and TOGWT.
