Wheel Cleaner

I need help finding a all around good product to use on wheels and tires along with fender wheels, locally preferably, P21s? Eagle 1? Soap and Water and Elbow Grease?

P21S is a great wheel cleaner Dustin. I bought the refill size and use my own spray bottle. It is a little bit expensive, but if you're only using it on your personal car, it will last a long time because you don't have to use it every time. Also, if you have regular customers, you will only need to use it the first time you clean their car, as long as you seal the wheels. That way it lasts longer.

It's expensive for how much you use though. Dustin, if you get this, get a large quantity so you get a better deal.

Okay I can cope with the financial burden not the chemical spotting :bat haha

O Okay, What sealant do you use? Poli-Seal?

P21S is a detergent cleaner. It's kind of expensive, particularly for a "production" application. The Griot's wheel cleaner is quite a bit more economical in the large sizes, although I haven't used the Griots enough to know if it's really comparable.

anything synthetic and durable is pretty good on wheels..., i've heard a lot of people like klasse... i generally use sum sort of durable synthetic like collinite, or 3m performance finish, even nu finish... yes nufinish.

Some people use Megs APC 4:1... ?

I'm currently using DG AWC and FSU's equivalent. Doesn't seem to get to caked on stuff as well.

My next wheel cleaner will definitely be P21S... looks amazing!

If you're looking for over the counter - Eagle 1 is surprisingly good -I know a few people on here are loyal.

I am giving Amazing roll off a try tomorrow... I'll let you know...

Dustin, you're going to want to have a collection of tire/wheel brushes, (Soft, hard) as well as cleaners so you can match your cleaning chemistry to the problem at hand.

You do not want to ever get into a situation where you accidently hit a sensitive wheel with a corrosive wheel/tire cleaner. The classic "Bleche White ate my Rims" problem.

If your dealing with uncoated metal wheels you'll want to have some Mothers Mag/Alu polish. As well as some chrome polish.

How to Choose the Proper Wheel Polish - Wax Forum

The of course the real advice is for people to quit using alloy wheels (except for real chrome plate) and switch to basic wheels with an ABS plastic wheel cover.

Then you don't have to worry about with corrosion issues, curb scuffing/hits and constant polishing/cleaning. This lets you focus on what is much more important, e.g a clean and nicely black tire.

Griots makes a lot of very good products.

Griot's and P21S regular are my two preferred wheel cleaners for weekly use. Griot's is a fraction of the price with 90% of the performance.

P21S has the gel which is probably 2X the strength of their regular product.

However, my concern is that these products are gentle and can be used week in, week out, without long-term ill effect. You may need something with a LOT more punch if you are attempting to deal with wheels that haven't been cleaned for 6 months. I'd have to recommend one of the ABF/HF products as they are the real solution for a production enviroment when dealing with tough stains and build up. I guess I'd recommend the Meg's Wheel Brightener @ 4:1 and take full precautions when using it. It's a fine cleaner, but has risks associated with it.

+1 on Megs WB, cheap and works

also something that hasnt got any cred on here is Auto Magic's Magnificent Wheel Cleaner. Its a green gel, go figure. You can leave it on for a long time to breakdown stuff and its cheap, like $20 a gallon and then you can dilute it.

yea. you asked about sealants.. normal synthetic waxes and sealants work just as well often times as legit wheel sealants, especially klasse. there should be several threads about it on here im sure.

I use Eagle One wheel and tire cleaner, Zep Citrus diluted or Meg Wheel brightner if needed. Mr Clean Magic eraser, brushes and applicators help clean wheels.
